I found a background check service at one point that showed a summary of each paycheck my employer issued to me, including bonuses and other payments, and I believe my Social Security number was required in order to retrieve the report. I can't locate the service again. Are there any out there that still offer such a service?

My employer is going to soon require that myself and other employees receive a "Position of Public Trust - High" classification. My credit is not good and I'm married to a person who is not a US citizen, though is a permanent resident and is from a country that the US likes. There's a couple of other minor snowflake bits, but, overall, how big of a deal is this going to be?

I was fired from a retail job back in 1994. I worked there 6 months. The firing could have been argued but I left. I have a job interview tomorrow requiring a background check. I don't want to lie but I don't want to tell the truth as it is so damn long ago and a ridiculous thing....and that job is long long long gone from resume replaced with great work and academic history. Does a routine background check dig up that old dirt? Thanks for your time and have a good week.

On my resume, I fudged the end date for my last job by six weeks, to cover up a bad situation where I was not at fault. A new company has given me an offer, checked my references, and sent me all the new hire paperwork. I'm supposed to start in two weeks. Only problem? I had to consent to a background check. Now I'm concerned that my lie will be uncovered. What do I do?

Offered a professional level job at PG&E. I would be driving a company car, but not all the time - desk job with field duty. On the online application I indicated that I do not have any criminal convictions (i.e. felonies, misdemeanors, etc.) For fear of not getting an interview at all, I replied in the negative. However, I have one misdemeanor DUI from almost seven years ago. They will be performing a background check. I know they really want me - they offered me the job within a day of interviewing. Does the background check go back this far? Am I screwed or will I have the opportunity to explain myself if it comes up? HR has not gotten to me to do the check yet. What, if anything, should I do?

iPhone App: I want to upload EVERY photo I take, to Flickr, immediately after being taken. This means that I want the app to upload in the background, REGARDLESS of what I'm doing. I may hit the home button and go on to another app, or I may just throw the phone in my pocket. I want the new spiffy multitasking to work as promised and upload my photos. I want to use this as my main camera app. I use a 3GS, so multitasking does work fine.

I'm looking to create a very subtle dot background pattern, like the one on
this site. I'm pretty familiar with Photoshop and Illustrator and have been able to produce a dot pattern, but the scale is much too big, and when I try to create a smaller pattern using a smaller circle, it simply disappears, or becomes a solid gray once I import it as a background. Does anyone have any idea how to make a pattern like the one on that site? It seems like it should be pretty straightforward, but I haven't been able to figure it out.

What is wrong with my firefox? It seems like firefox has forgotten how to display backgrounds and colors on web pages. I don't know anything about css or html, so I don't really know what the problem is, but I posted a couple screenshots of two pages and the error console for one in
this album. I have tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling firefox, but with no luck. Chrome and Safari work fine.
