ErgonomicFilter. Or, CarpalTunnel/Hernia PreventionFilter. I promise it's not the chair question- but a plea for tips writ large.

I use my laptop in conjunction with midi controllers as a live instrument. When running off the battery it sounds great through the PA system, but when I plug in the AC adapter I get a very loud humming sound. Is there any way to get rid of this?

Wanted: workstation (desk and chair) that can be quickly/frequently/comfortably repositioned back and forth between sitting and standing positions.
(Also much interested in tips/alternatives for keeping focus while having to do this constant sit/stand switchoff throughout the day.)

Wondering if anyone has herniated a disc in the lower lumbar spine. If so, how long did it take to heal? What did you do to alleviate the pain? I have had pain for 2 years now and am wondering if I should have surgery, or what other routes I should take to get rid of the pain. Any suggestions?

I looove it when my girlfriend walks on my back - nothing gets out those big knots like a well-placed heel. Is there a name for this? Any suggestions on improving/refining the technique? Any dangers, providing she doesn't step right on my spine?

Some muscle in my upper back, on the left side just inside my shoulder blade, has balled up and is really sore. I don't know how I injured it, but I do know I had trouble sleeping last night and this is the fourth day in a row it has hurt. I know a guy who is training to be a chiropractor, but I'm a little suspicious of going to a chiropractor, let alone a not-yet-quite-certified chiropractor. What would you suggest? A deep massage? Just wait for it to work itself out? See a real doctor? Or just keep popping the ibuprofens?

I woke up with the most severe backache that I've ever had, probably caused by overexertion at the gym yesterday. The pain originates from my lower back, and more towards the sides and the center.
Does anyone have any advice on how to feel a bit better and salvage my Sunday?

Back Pain. How do I get rid of it? I've tried changing my chair, the level of my keyboard, what side of the bed I sleep on. I've been stretching. Nothing works. I am in agony. I've never had back pain like this before. I've always had back discomfort, aches -- that sort of thing -- but never debilitating pain. I'm only 22. What should I do?

Why do my lower back muscles contract when I am cold? It is uncontrollable and often causes pain. Is there anything I can do to train the muscles to relax? Would having a stronger lower back make it worse or better?
