I'm considering signing up with Care.com to supplement my regular freelance-writing gig -- I'm thinking babysitting and petsitting/dogwalking, both of which I have done before. Have you signed up with Care.com as a caregiver? Any tips? Is it worth it to pay for the background check, get First Aid- and CPR-certified, etc.? (Mine expired.) And parents, etc. -- what would your advice be on how to create a good profile on the site?

I'm a mother (of a toddler) who works part time and is looking to make some extra money. I've considered babysitting jobs, but aside from raising my own son, I don't have much experience with kids aside from babysitting jobs I had when I was a teenager. No recent references.
