Power adapter for an infant swing?

Power solutions for an infant swing? We have a Fisher Price Cradle N Swing for our 9 week old daughter. It takes 4 D cell batteries. I did not think, when buying the swing, to see if it had an A/C adapter (apparently some do; this model does not). It looks like you can get third party adapters online. Has anyone tried them? Or does anyone know if they do/should/should not work? I obviously don't want the swing to catch fire or something while she's in it!!

What to get a new baby and new parents?

Ideas for unique gifts for a baby coming in less than a month, and/or gifts for the first-time parents of said kid? They already had the baby shower, got a ton of clothes, a stroller, a crib, a mobile, some toys; I think most of the basics are covered. Any suggestions for unique gifts that would be good/fun/handy/helpful for the infant, or gifts for the parents to pamper them when they're up at 3 in the morning? Items that you've found to be useful or nice but maybe aren't common knowledge? (It's a boy; their first child; live in the Bay Area in a duplex home; he's a physician, she's an engineer; they're Chinese; have a minivan and a Subaru, if that at all makes a difference.) Price range: max, maybe $200ish?

What things are must-have for a baby?

What stuff do you REALLY need for a baby? (more inside) There are tons of checklists out there of "What you simply must have for your baby"... but they all seem to be provided by sites that want to sell you baby clothes or gear. How interesting that they think I need at least 12 side-snap shirts, when they are the ones selling them. I haven't bought much of anything so far. My baby shower is tomorrow and I'm waiting to see what we'll need after that. We have the major things taken care of (crib & other furniture that we think we'll need). We don't have much in the way of clothes. What do we really need, and how much, considering I have a washer & dryer on premises and can do laundry as often as necessary?
