Babies at the keyboard

My 18 month old baby loves to pound on the computer keyboard in imitation of her mom and dad. Does anyone have any experience with programs that would both prevent her from deleting all of our files while providing an entertaining experience? [more inside]

Help us have a few adventures together before we're parents!

My husband and I are due to have our first child in May. We're thrilled, but starting to realize how much our lives will change once the kid arrives. We'd like to do a few things in these next few months that we won't be able to do once we have the baby. Any ideas? [more inside]

Help this young child get nutrition

best baby formula? ... the child is seven months old and just stopping breast-feeding. Several formulas have been tied -- including Similiac, GoodStart and Enfimil -- without success, as the baby does not like them and spits them out. Any suggestions on a nourishing formula? What should be tried? Is this just a transition situation? Should we keep trying the above formulas or go a different route? Thx.

Chances our child would inherit husband's deformed toes?

My husband has deformed toes. What are the chances that this will be passed on to our child if we have one? My husband's toes vary wildly in length--in particular, his 4th toe is longer than all the rest, and all of his toenails are kind of squashed and distorted. Apparently the rest of his family all have normal toes. What could have caused this, and what are the chances (yes, I'm looking for numbers here, if possible) that this deformity would be passed on to our child?

How to de-stinkify a musty bassinet

We're expecting our second child in the next couple of weeks, and I (foolishly) stored the co-sleeper/bassinet that we used with our first in the basement for the last two years. Now it smells musty. I need as benign a solution to the odor as possible. I don't want to put a newborn in a musty bassinet to sleep, but I also don't want to use harsh chemicals on something where she'll spend several hours a night (fingers crossed). What will work best? Will one of those passive odor absorbers like an air sponge, or that German metal thingie be sufficient, or do I need to use something that I actually apply to the surface fabric?

baby straight jackets?

Our itchy baby can only sleep if we swaddle her securely. By securely, I mean we have to wrap her quite snuggly, safety-pinning the stretchy cloth to prevent her from wriggling out and scratching herself awake. It took some trial-and-error to find a wrapping method that could contain her. Can snug swaddling harm babies orthopedically? [more inside]

Absolutely beautiful baby book. It was pretty special... Anybody know what I'm talking about?? It's burned into my brain and I have nowhere to begin! o_O :)
