How much help will we need with C-section recovery?

Mrs. Awesome is having a baby very soon! Yay! At this point it's likely to be a C-section - not our first choice, but we'll roll with it if we have to. I understand the recovery can be a bit rough; I'll be around for a month or so after the birth, but will we need more help than just me? [more inside]

Baby sleep problems galore with generally-great baby! What to do?

12.5-month-old Supercoolbaby was a very good sleeper from early on (she slept through the night at 2 months and carried on with that until about 10 months, but never more than 2 wakeups during the night), but recently some problems have developed. Would love your thoughts/advice. Many details within. [more inside]

Will health insurance still pay for my baby's doc band if we stop early?

Do I really need to see the pediatric neurosurgeon?

YANMD, but perhaps you're more free to speak honestly than my doctor. My baby had a simple skull fracture. We have a regular checkup scheduled for a month after the incident, but the pediatric neurosugeon wants to see the baby at around the same time. Would that really offer any additional information? everything is killing me

Since having a baby, I've been trying to pay more attention to the types of products we use and now I'm pretty sure that everything is killing us. How do I become better informed about hidden toxins and chemicals and other nasties and learn to eliminate them from my life without going completely crazy and running off to the forest with my tinfoil hat? Drunk Dad at hookup = no kid or damaged kid?

Does a father's moderate drinking, around insemination, affect conception rates or baby health? I've googled aplenty, but the info that I've found is consistently of poor quality, with lots of assertions and opinions but no data regarding actual outcomes, either for conception rates or a baby's development. I'm not interested in stories about damaged sperm, but rather solid evidence about babies, either the lack of babies or damage to their health. And I'm talking about consumption levels comfortably within the moderate range, so alcholic malnutrition and whatnot don't factor in. Thanks!

Pickles and grapefruit

Is there a link between deli-style pickles and grapefruits that both cause a baby's face to have a skin allergy? Do they share any traits or ingredients that would have that reaction? Are their juices too acidic/basic?
