Car is a 2009 Toyota Matrix with 67,000 miles. Check Engine light came on two days ago, went off after oil change, came on again. Diagnostic at auto store today said P0354 Ignition Coil D Primary / Secondary Circuit. Light went off again after restarting after diagnostic, but I've only drive 5 miles since. It will difficult to get car to shop this week; might put another 50 miles on the car in the meantime. Is this just a performance issue, or might I damage the engine by driving with this issue? Thanks.
I am looking for recommendations for websites/ blogs that feature photo-heavy articles on classic and vintage automobiles. I already follow Petrolicious. I wouldn't mind something that skews a little more American muscle from the 80's and prior, but any and all recommendations from any genre are welcome.

I am going to be moving to a new city and for the first time will be keeping my car parked on the street 24/7. This is unavoidable. Are there any suggestions y'all have for keeping my car safe beyond the usual (park under streetlight, keep valuables out)? Perhaps some way of making it so it can't be started if broken into?
We're going to drive to the Buffalo area to sell the 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid mentioned in my last question, "How to sell our Ontario-registered never-imported American car". The car has 111,000 miles and is missing its front bumper cover due to a collision with a deer but is otherwise in good condition. [more inside]

I've started reading the the entirety of Richard Stark's Parker series, and I can't help noticing that the ages of cars are always mentioned. It's never just a Pontiac, it's a "two year old Pontiac." Or, "The Cadillac was four years old." Did cars in the '60s have ridiculously short life spans? What's the deal?
I'm searching for a movie similar to John Hughes' 1987 classic, Planes, Trains & Automobiles. Something with a warm message and the same kind of comedy. Preferably something with Steve Martin or John Candy, but not necessarily. Recommendations?

About two weeks ago my 2002 PT Cruiser Limited suffered a head gasket failure. This is the second time it's happened on this car in recent years and I'm not having it repaired it again. About a week ago my wife and I bought a nice 2011 Toyota Corolla LE to replace that car. Now I'm trying to figure out what to do with the Cruiser and how to keep its nice new tires for the Corolla. I have one of those cherry red gasoline jugs that I use to store gas for my lawnmower. Usually I just re-use the gas from year to year, but I know that's bad (OLD GAS!), and I'm trying to take better care of my mower and do things like use new gas and change the oil and, you know, stuff, so I'd like to get rid of it and get some new gas... An actual help-me-with-my-story question: I've got a group of characters who need to ride around in an eye catching, iconic vintage automobile. It was orginally going to be a VW bus for the Mystery Machine echos but it turns out that's not actually street legal in the US. So, what's an old-fashioned auto that seats four or more, can be driven on US roads, and is antique/unusual enough to attract attention from car people but not enough that it sticks out like a surreal visitation ( like say, a Model T would.)
Recently moved to the South Bay area of Los Angeles County and I am looking for a good place to take my Toyota Corolla for any maintenance and repairs it may need. [more inside]
I'm in the market for a used car, and I've found one that looks great (on paper). I have not seen it in person yet. It's being sold by a new/used car dealership that seems to have positive reviews (or at least, no negative reviews that I can find). The only thing is, the asking price appears to be too low, based on what I'm finding online, by something like $2,000-3,000. Carfax report comes up clean except for a fender bender, and the mileage is kind of high (190k for a 2005 car). I plan to check it out in person and ask questions about it, but (1) what should I be looking for -- especially non-obvious things? and (2) what are some good questions to ask about it? Also: if the car is in decent condition, should I try to haggle, or just take the car at the listed price?

Until very recently, I lived in a college town where having a car was completely unnecessary. Though I had my license, I rarely drove. I am now in a place where having a car isn't absolutely necessary, but more convenient. At my parents' behest, I also now have a car, which I'm very grateful for. However, there's such a mental block for me to drive said car that I haven't driven anywhere for over a week. Any suggestions to overcome this general avoidance of driving? [more inside]

How can I get the best deal on a car? Based on my previous question, I haven't decided if I am going to buy or lease. For either path, what techniques and tactics should I employ to get the best deal. Where can I find reliable information on prices? Do I play dealers off of one another? This question is not about buying vs. leasing. Let's just assume I am going to buy one car and lease another. How do I get the best deal on both?
