I am a Rhode Island resident. I'm in San Francisco, CA for several months, working. I've decided to buy a car from a friend here, and today I'm going over to give him the money (I've been driving it for a week or two, since he already bought a new car and we trust each other).

I recently moved from California to Colorado, then acquired a new car. Meanwhile, my California registration on the old car expired. I want to sell the old car in Colorado, but it has no current registration and was never registered in this state. How can I take people on test drives? Just risk it? Is signing over the California title sufficient, then it's their job to get the car registered?
Headache city, any advice is much appreciated.

My car was rear ended last night and it's starting to look like the guy who hit me does not have a driver's license or insurance. So I'm not really sure what my next move is.

I'm stuck in Adair, Iowa (pop 800) with a probably unfixable car which was towing a trailer hauling all my possessions. OMG help.

Does anyone have experiences with the
California Low Cost Auto Insurance (CLCA) program, and/or any advice for applying?
(Anonymous because the program is only for individuals dancing with the poverty line, and I'd rather not make my financial circumstances known)

I'm thinking about buying a new car. I'm also thinking about moving to Washington State. Is there any reason NOT to buy a car in California - any reason that waiting and buying it in WA would be preferable?
