I listen to a lot of audio books on my iphone while driving and working. I also like listening to music in between for short periods, but still need to keep my place in the book. Right now I am using the bookmark app to keep track of the audio book, which seems to be the best app that I have tried so far. But the problem is that whenever I want to switch back to my playlist of music, the iphone music app defaults to the audio book that was last played. Is there any better way of switching back and forth so that the music app can remember that it is supposed to play a playlist and the audio book app remembers to start where I left off in the book?

XLD was working fine unless I have too many albums (such as 30 folders/albums apiece). I am not figuring out the interface on MAX for a batch conversion with several subfolders. I basically am using VBR to compress my music to smaller mp3 format. On XLD, there is Preferences-->Preserve directory structure-->subdirectory search depth "0", which makes it work on a small scale, like 10 folders or so, before crashing. So, if anyone can tell me what I am missing on MAX's menu or if they had the problem with XLD and fixed it, I am good to go. I like XLD's interface but it won't process my whole iTunes at a go.

I recently received a Arirang AR-36K karaoke machine. I have hooked it up to my TV and receiver, which has ports only for stereo sound from this input. It has two ports on the front for microphones, which I've plugged in; however, the sound input from the mics isn't mixed into the sound output. I know that the input is actually
happening, because the on-screen display reacts to my (terrible) singing, but it just doesn't get mixed -- and the menu option to turn up the microphone volume simply doesn't work (it gives the "command not allowed" icon whenever I press
any button on the requisite screen). The hardware microphone volume knobs seem to have no effect, either. Any ideas?

I want to buy an audio interface for home recordings. Specifically, I want to record onto (most likely) a Mac, and I need more than 2 simultaneous inputs, since I will often be recording drums. I would prefer to spend under 200€. Give me your opinion and experiences!

I need a new amplifier/receiver for music and TV/home-cinema. I've looked at the Onkyo "network" range, especially entry level around £350-£400, but I am sure I could get my hands on an amp from a few years ago with all the features I desire, and save a bundle. I'd really appreciate your advice.

I'm a drummer in an indie-rock band with a 5-piece kit who is looking to expand my setup to include a drum sampling pad. I want something that has unique percussion sounds (not just cheesy electronic beats), built-in effects, plenty of storage space to upload my own samples, and the ability to record and loop live drumbeats. Any advice?

I'm looking for audio of people saying interesting things about making or listening to music -- movies, youtube videos, hip-hop albums, tv shows, doesn't matter. I'm especially interested in people talking about how music or dancing makes them feel or why they make music, more than details of how they make it.

What's the software or academic paper that isolates sounds by humming them? I remember seeing a demonstration video of this where the narrator removed a phone ringing by imitating its trill. He also removed the guitar from the AC/DC song Back In Black. I think the title was "Isolating Sounds Via Frequency Matching" but my google-fu has failed.

Could someone please tell me the original song that features the breath sound with delayed effect that you hear in
this sample (check at about 0.06). This is a snippet I recorded from a recent mix by MJ Cole.
Perhaps it's even one of Mr. Cole's songs.. but which? And if it is do you think the breath sound was created by him or was it sampled from older material? I'm almost certain I've heard it elsewhere.
