Looking for a small, cheap amplifier to sit between a
Sony D250 portable CD player and a pair of Energy e:XL 15 or 16 speakers. Toying with the idea of a DIY gainclone but not sure I have the smarts to put a kit together without killing myself, or even to know whether that sort of amp is suitable for my needs.

I am planning a project for a new years party involving over a hundred speakers of assorted size and Ohm values , Basically the idea is to stack all the speakers to cover an entire wall of a room and wire them all up to an amplifier(s?) what would be the best way to wire them?

As Marantz has introduced a new (but hardly improved) model, Music Direct is selling the PM8003 integrated amplifier for half usual MSRP ($499 vs. $999). From what I've read, it's a splendid piece of kit, and a solid value before the drastic discount. My question for you; would you recommend something else, for $500 or less, that you feel is superior to the Marantz? In terms of sonic character, I favor impartiality, perhaps slight warmth, but balance and purity foremost, if that informs suggestions at all. I'd like to feel I've surveyed my options thoroughly before going through with the purchase.

My amplifier/receiver died. I need something inexpensive (~$200) but powerful to replace it. I am not an audiophile but like my music to sound good. Should I get a simple amplifier and an HD radio tuner or troll eBay for a used receiver? I have two sets of speakers plus woofer and need about 100W per channel. Need three or four inputs. Don't need fancy 5.1 or anything. Recommendations?

I buckled and bought a set of AKG k701 cans. They're currently hooked up directly to my Airport Express and sounding great, just lacking the final couple of decibels. Can anyone offer any advice on choosing a suitable headphone amplifier or, even better, suggest a recommendation (sub $500)?

I have a Stanton Str8-20 Turntable coupled with a Yamaha CR-640 (1980 vintage) Amplifier. Playing orchestrated music, the loudest sounds of the vinyl will distort. I had to 'tune' the turntable before using it, and this was my first time. I googled but nothing helped. Can anyone give me advice regarding the distortion, which is probably relevant to the fine tuning of the turntable?
