Another iPhone question. I tried to cash in on the 3Gs for $49 special today, but my contract still has 8 months on it, meaning I'm not eligible for an upgrade until mid-August. I can't afford to pay full price for an iPhone of any stripe. Do I have any options?

Someone scammed my parents. But what, exactly, is the point of the scam? They called my mom, claiming to be from AT&T, saying that something in her house was causing interference all over the neighborhood, and that they needed to come over. They came, showed fake credentials, identified the interference as coming from my parents' security system, deactivate they system and left.

Hi MeFites! I was wondering if anyone can enlighten me on how call forwarding on my cell phone will show up on phone records. Also, is it possible to call someone while routing through the original number (from the forwarded-to phone)? How would this show up on phone records? By the way, the phone records I will be talking about are on AT&T and are on the online website. If anyone knows ways to circumvent AT&T's tracking, I would like to hear that as well. One last question: Will simply enabling call forwarding itself change anything on the phone records and is this visible on the records?

I hardly talk on the phone any more, when I do it's usually only a few minutes (last bill I used 60 of an available 500). So I could probably make do with a prepaid plan. However, I use data all the time; email, Google calendar, etc.
Now many people out there have put the iPad data plan to use in assorted Android phones, granted that was before the AT&T unlimited cutoff.
But has anyone done it after? Split voice and data to two devices? Is the slight hassle worth it?
I'd use google voice to direct calls and such, wifi at work, home, many places I frequent so I'm not to worried about going over the 2 GB limit.
Anyone out there with first hand experience?

A week and a half ago, I bought an iPhone 4, thus switching to AT&T for the first time. Now, when people call me on the iPhone, there is a lag of a couple of seconds between when I stop talking and when they hear me, or vice-versa. The result of this is that we end up talking over one another, or saying "HELLO?" to one another, thinking that they other has not heard what I/they just said, when we are really just waiting out the delay.

I am signed up for an AT&T Premier account through a family member. They get the bill, I pay them, they pay AT&T - though there's a huge run-around of waiting for them to tell me the amount, getting the money to them, waiting for them to pay the bill. The family member tells me that the discount is only in effect if everything on the account stays the same. Really? I figure that I can change the name and/or billing address (so that the bill comes directly to me) and nothing happens, as long as the email stays authenticated. Or am I mistaken?

My wife wants to get an iPhone, and is currently on Verizon. I already have one. What's the best route for us to go? If she gets an iPhone4, can I take it and give her the 3GS just by swapping the SIM cards? What is your experience with AT&Ts family plans, or are we better off having separate accts? Does ordering the phone online make anything more difficult?

Another ditch-the-cell-phone-bill/Google Voice question: Google Voice made me give them my cell phone number (800-OLD-CELL) when I signed up, and then assigned me a new number (800-GGL-VOIC). However, I don't have calls forwarded from the Google Voice number to my actual cell phone - Instead, everything goes to voicemail. What happens if I cancel my old cell phone number?

How's AT&T's service in Albuquerque?
What provider has the best Albuquerque coverage? Her contract w/ Verizon will be up soon so she can move to any provider.

Ill be visiting Canada (Vancouver, BC) for the month of February for the Olympics. I have a US based iPhone with service with AT&T on a Family plan with one other iPhone. AT&Ts web site is pretty opaque on the subject of roaming in Canada, but it appears that I can switch to a nationwide family talk plan that includes Canada for the month. Ive been able to find no information on what making that switch will mean for data usage for my iPhone. AT&Ts "customer service web-surfing monkey (tm)" on the phone was no help at all, seemingly having trouble understanding the difference between Mexico and Canada. So whats the deal? Can I get data for a reasonable price with my iPhone in Canada, or should I just go cold turkey and shut my iPhone off for the month (shudder)?
