Looking for a pre-paid AT&T SIM card at Reagan National [more inside]
Mefite New Yorkers, lend me your ears! And thoughts. I'm interested in getting an iPhone 6 tomorrow (AT&T) but not sure where to go to maximize my chances of getting one. Definitely going to avoid the Apple stores, so I'm thinking AT&T stores are my best shot. Thoughts on the best place to get a phone? Better to go to midtown near work? Or stay on the Upper West Side (where I live) and try one of the stores around here?
I have been impressed by T-Mobile's innovative new plans (offering things like unlimited data, international data included, no lock-in, wifi calling, etc) and am tempted to switch from AT&T. I live in NYC and don't travel much within the USA. If I do, it is generally to other big cities. I am wondering if any other Mefites have experience switching from AT&T to T-Mobile or if they can shed light on the general T-Mobile experience. I am grandfathered into an old AT&T plan that no longer exists, so I am somewhat hesitant to switch. That being said, it seems that I would save something like $20/month with T-Mobile. Thanks.
My internet (AT&T DSL) got weird a few hours ago this morning, and is still struggling. I went through a long list of stuff with a tech, who is sending out a new modem. Here's what's happening. Certain sites are loading fine, while others just time out to the "The connection has timed out" message. [more inside]
I'm finally going to ditch my trusty LG enV 3 for a smartphone, but I want one off-contract, and I don't want to spend a ton of money. [more inside]
I am on an AT&T family plan. I have had an iPhone 3GS since about 2011, and just upgraded to an iPhone 5c. I still have the 3GS. What is the best way for me to use this phone with a monthly plan completely separate from the family plan, with any carrier? Our daughter is on the Virgin 35/month plan. That seems pretty good. Am I hosed because this phone was locked into AT&T, or whatzers?
In spring of 2014 I will be getting an iPhone 5S. I cannot figure out how to get a plan that includes tethering so I can generate wifi for my non-cellular iPad mini. What will I need to do to activate that during my order (I am switching from Verizon to AT&T) and how do I find out how much it will cost in addition to my unlimited talk/text plus XGB of data? I have already contacted customer support and they have given me the same unhelpful stuff that's on the AT&T website.
We are currently on an (expensive, $180 / month) ATT family plan with out iPhone 4Ses. We want to upgrade to the 5Ses and are wondering if t-mobile's coverage in the Boston area is good enough. Also, what plan would you recommend for the following parameters? Thanks for your help! [more inside]
I'm pretty sure I'll be leaving my job by the end of the year, and I'll have to turn in my iPad (1st gen 3G). It's on the (no longer available) AT&T $30 month-to-month unlimited data plan, which I pay for myself and work reimburses. I'm not sure whether to replace the iPad or cancel the data plan. Help me think this through? [more inside]
My mother is travelling to Italy (lots of relatives there) and would like to have basic cell phone access while there. I need to work out the details before she leaves in September. [more inside]
Making the switch from Verizon to AT&T and I have a few basic questions. [more inside]
I'm looking to replace my iPhone 4s. The most important factor to me is cellular data speed and reliability -- accessing the Web, syncing iCloud data, YouTube, stuff like that. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area (East Bay region), but it would be great if it worked well in New York, L.A. and other parts of the U.S. Should I go with Verizon or AT&T? Also, any pointers to websites with tools/reviews/resources to help me make the selection? [more inside]
My husband and I are traveling to London later this week for a 10-day trip (yay!). For part of the trip I'm going to be at a conference, and he will be doing some work things, so we need to be able to get in touch with each other, either via voice calls or text. I'm trying to figure out the cheapest way to accomplish this. [more inside]
I have had a reasonably happy relationship with my T-Mobile G2 (aka HTC Desire Z) these past two years, but my contract is up, and I have long coveted the iPhone, mostly based on its picture taking and video chatting capabilities. Should I just get one and take advantage of T-Mobile's new pricing? Or should I jump to a new carrier? An attempt to make this less open-ended is inside. [more inside]
The original promise of the data plans for an iPad was that they were not a long term contract, but rather something you could use for a month or two, disable / cancel for a few months and then activate again as you needed it. You also would not have overage charges as running into the limit would just disable your account until you upped the plan. Is that still the case? [more inside]
With AT&T landlines, is your directory listing (i.e. what's in the phone book) necessarily the same as what people see on caller ID?
We are switching from AT&T cell phone to service to Verizon, and I'd like to perform the switch smoothly while also using one of the new phones as a Christmas gift. Your advice on the proper procedure would be welcome. [more inside]
TMobileUSA is merging with MetroPCS. Does this mean I can take my ATT iPhone4 or ATT iPhone4S to TMobile / MetroPCS now? [more inside]
AT&T/iPhone: I bought an iPhone 4 on craigslist. I plan to cut down my 3G's sim into a micro-sim and put it in the 4. However, before I got started I factory reset the 4 and now it wants to go through an activation process. What does "activation" mean, in this context? [more inside]
Should I choose ATT or Verizon for iPhone in San Francisco/Bay Area? [more inside]
I got an IPhone so that I can play games while at dialysis to pass the time with. I chose AT&T because GSM network friendly phone can be unlocked and used on ANY GSM network carriers. I got mine unlocked and currently using a Simple Mobile plan which gives unlimited voice/text/data for only $40. A Verizon unlocked Iphone can only be used with international GSM networks (see this link explaining that: GSM Iphone vs CDMA. So that was the reasoning on choosing ATT. My unexpected dilemma is GSM (ATT, TMobile, Simple) does not work at my dialysis center. And I get spotty signal at work depending what part of the building I am in. So I just don't get calls when at dialysis or work. I have to forward the calls to my work phone. [more inside]
I'm moving to a new apartment in Louisville, KY and I need to decide on some sort of internet package. AT&T is apparently what most people in the area choose, so I've been looking at their options. I think that I might want either their DSL XTREME or DSL XTREME 6.0 but I don't want to pay for more than I need. I need to be able to download and upload music and videos, and I stream a lot of television shows and movies through Netflix, Hulu, and other streaming sites. I also need to be able to use Skype. Which option would be the better one?
My new AT&T U-verse contract has a forced arbitration clause but no information about opting out. Does that mean that I can't? [more inside]

How much could go wrong by letting some random guy try to unlock my AT&T iphone for use with Tmobile?
Could I potentially ruin my Iphone (which I love) if I take it to some guy suggested by T-Mobile to get it unlocked because AT&T won't give me the unlock code. [more inside]

I don't want any access to email when I am on vacation this year. However, I do need cellphone access. I am currently using an AT&T iPhone 4. Can use the iPhone 4 micro sim card (with an adapter) in a GoPhone? Barring that, what is the most featureless AT&T phone I can put my iPhone 4 sim in (including ones I can buy used). Thanks!

My girlfriend got a used iPhone for her birthday! Now what? [more inside]
Any suggestions on what I can do if I have a complaint on an authorized agent of AT&T Wireless? [more inside]
I hardly talk on the phone any more, when I do it's usually only a few minutes (last bill I used 60 of an available 500). So I could probably make do with a prepaid plan. However, I use data all the time; email, Google calendar, etc. Now many people out there have put the iPad data plan to use in assorted Android phones, granted that was before the AT&T unlimited cutoff. But has anyone done it after? Split voice and data to two devices? Is the slight hassle worth it? I'd use google voice to direct calls and such, wifi at work, home, many places I frequent so I'm not to worried about going over the 2 GB limit. Anyone out there with first hand experience?
I reallllly don't want to change my phone number, but it would be nice to be able to use my cell phone from home... [more inside]

iphone 4.0 erased my sim card?! Help! [more inside]
I'm planning on pre-ordering the new iphone tomorrow. I'm eligible for the AT&T upgrade plan. Is there a price difference between ordering it at an AT&T store versus an Apple store? I thought is was the same in terms of price, but a friend recently told me the discount was larger at the AT&T store. Thanks for the help!
