Yet another Friday night...

GoodTimesFilter: Instead of going out and being social, I tend to make excuses, saying I need to stay in to complete work - which I often don't actually complete, due to procrastination and distraction issues. How I can quiet this negative voice, and go out to have a good time? I've been like this for as long as I can remember - "Sorry, can't go out tonight because I should get some work done." And then? I don't actually get anything done, I sit around, screwing around on the computer. I'm fixing the procrastination/distraction issues with medication (which seems to be starting to work), but I'm still at an impass with the other bit.

It always seems like there's something else I should be doing, but instead of missing out on these great opportunities, while sitting at home and getting no benefit - social or productive.

I feel like I missed the day in high school where people were taught to sometimes turn off the part of their brain that says, "Hey, I know you have to stuff to do, but go out for a movie on Friday night. It's not like you'll get anything good done anyways."

How do I turn this off? Or, how do I get myself to go out and enjoy these social activities, without thinking about the billions of things I have to do?

Help me look good under my ski suit!

I need help figuring out how to achieve the following goals without the use of a gym: 1) Getting a six pack. 2) Getting bigger shoulders (they don't need to be that much bigger, just enough so they show when my arms are at my sides. I'm pretty close already.) So, I used to be outright fat but I've been losing weight pretty steadily thanks to my don't-eat-so-goddamn-much diet. I still eat cookies, pie and even ice-cream it's just that when I eat them they become the meal rather than having them with a meal. There's a tiny tire left but it's slowly going away.

My only steady exercise is biking to work (and sometimes back. There's a big hill I don't like riding in jeans and I usually get rides back with friends.) and 4 sets of 25 pushups once or twice a day. I can't routinely go to a gym or running trails because I live in a place where I pretty much have to drive or bike to get anywhere and I can't drive for another 5 months (epilepsy). This makes getting home after cardio an "uphill battle" if you mind the pun. The hill makes a morning run on the street just as impractical.

So, without the use of a gym or external facilities, how do I get a six-pack or bigger shoulders?

I want to expand my in-home workout routine.

I want to expand my in-home workout routine. I actually like working out, but I hate going to the gym and all the attendant drama involved with me figuring out the correct way of using 300 machines and not dropping dumbbells on myself. To that end, I've begun working out in my home, using only my own body weight as resistance.
So far, I do two different kinds of pushups (regular and diamond), situps (the bicycle kick kind), and handstands against the wall (held for a period of time, like 45 seconds today, and eventually, I will move to handstand pushups when I'm ready). I also run and do yoga as I feel moved to.
These exercises together pinpoint my chest, abs, shoulders, if I figured it out right (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong). I'd like to know what other exercises I can do using only my body weight and no props other than things that can typically be found at home.
Bonus: I'd love for my back to look less flabby.

Which PDA: just for typing up plaintext?

PDAfilter: I know essentially zero about PDAs except generally what they do and what they look like. I'm looking for one pretty much just for... ...typing up ideas when I'm at work so I don't have to write it all out by hand, and I think of quite a bit. I also have a blog and think of good ideas to write about, so I could effectively write the whole blog entry at work. Is there a cheapish PDA (color screen doesn't matter much) that I can use one of those nifty portable foldout keyboards, and upload stuff to the HD at home like a USB drive (or with an SD card)? I pretty just need a plaintext editor.

Home Operating Systems

Are there any reports, stats, or studies which might give me a more accurate picture of the percentage of people who use Windows or the Mac OS at home? What I'm curious about is how the numbers break down after you remove the vast number of PCs / Windows machines purchased by offices, and the rather inaccurate way that market share is determined.
