Can someone recommend a good mid level heat sink (I'm overclocking but not crazy case modding or spending more than $50) for my Socket A processor? It's an Athlon 2500XP on a K7N2 Delta2 MSI motherboard. The key is that I have to be able to still buy it, and it needs to be better than the stock one that came with the processor. [more inside]

I have a Dell Inspiron 531 desktop that came with an Athlon X2 64 5600+ processor. I have heard that the last in this line of processors (and the last socket AM2) will be the 6400 - did I lock myself into a dead-end CPU upgrade path? Or will I be able to upgrade in the future to AMD's next line of processors, whatever it is?

I received a decent tax refund and I'm thinking about doing a computer upgrade. The last time I rebuilt my system was in 2003. I don't need to be able to play the hottest new FPS (although I do game occasionally), but I want to be able to comfortably run Windows Vista when it's released. Here are my current specs: [more inside]

My husband wants to play Battlefield 2, but his computer, an Athlon 64 3200+, seems to be kind of sluggish with the new demo. Given that there's only so much we want to spend to play video games, what's the best component to upgrade? The video card? The processor? [more inside]

While in the middle of doing my taxes the other day, my monitor went to displaying a weird character over and over over the entire screen. The computer wouldn't respond at all, so I shut it off manually via the power switch on the back. Since then, whenever I've attempted to start it up, the fans come on, the hard drive clicks a couple times, as usual, and then nothing. The fans keep whirring but there's no beep, no usual startup process, and nothing ever gets displayed to the monitor. [more inside]

I recently purchased an Athlon XP 2400 266 FSB, to replace my Athlon Thunderbird 1.4ghz. Running at 133/133, the processor only shows up as a 1700 running at 1.49ghz. I have an ECS K7S5A with the Cheepoman BIOS (and I've tried this with the latest ECS BIOS as well). I've seen people talking about this combination being okay for them, but I can't for the life of me figure out why this won't recognize it as the right processor and clock speed. Bumping up the CPU speed to 166 causes my system to not boot. I've confirmed through the numbers on the processor itself that it is indeed an Athlon XP 2400. What else could be at fault here?
