How do you collect property/funds from a will you are suggestively entitled to? How do you concretely find out you are entitled to these funds? [more inside]
To start with, I know that this is something that will need to be discussed with a lawyer when the time is right and it will vary according to our local laws. But this is a general question, I'm looking for general information and answers (not legal advice!) about what sort of things may be necessary in the future to protect my husband. [more inside]
What experiences have you had with big (a.k.a. "enterprise") digital asset management systems? Good or bad, I want to know it all. [more inside]
My brother went and got stage 4 cancer couple years ago without insurance. He’s not worked since and is now on public assistance. To maintain that assistance he will have to liquidate his shuttered small business. His sustaining chemo keeps him pretty sedate and very bored so I’d like to loan him my idle 3-D laser marker to do artsy-fartsy stuff. I’d put the marker in his house that he owns outright... do I have to worry about losing the marker to his bill collectors (health services debt accrued prior to public assistance)? If so, how do I loan him the equipment and protect my ownership? I don’t think his girlfriend is a co-owner of the house but I suspect his 4 year old son somehow is.
Looking for software suggestions for a media asset management system for a small workgroup setting, mostly on OS X hardware. [more inside]
Is a property lease considered an asset in a UCC-1 financing statement? I recently sold my small business and am carrying a note for the buyer. His collateral: the assets of the business he bought from me. If the buyer defaults I will want to take possession of the assets, per the UCC-1. The foreclosure process is straight forward, but I do not know if the new lease he signed with my old landlord is considered an asset by the UCC-1. If it isn't, how can I retrieve my assets if he still "owns" the lease?
I have a couple hundred thousand digital photos. I have a bunch of duplicate images from overlapping backups. I have inconsistent naming and folder schemes. I have edited and cropped versions of the same image. I need some software to help me clean and sort my images. [more inside]

Magazine cover design meeting in 3 hours and I'm stuck. We're a cross-disability magazine and the next theme is roughly "asset building and financial literacy". Our message: not as scary as it sounds. [more inside]

My organisation has entasked me with installing a computer-based car booking system. We have roughly 14 cars. We currently use a huge whiteboard to manage this. But we imagine it could be easier to manage if people used a computer to query a database via an asset booking GUI. At least one of the computers ought to be a touchscreen installed somewhere central with a super easy GUI for those who are not so computer-literate. Access control an advantage (registered users, etc). Ability to leave messages about what's wrong with the cars - and equally see what others have reported - a wonderful thing. Also a real boon could be the ability to tell the system, I want a car from then to then - what's available? [more inside]

Help me find an online document management system / digital asset management system. [more inside]
I have been tasked with creating a I.T. Asset Management / Inventory Process for my company. We are a relatively small shop so investing in a big framework / system would be overkill. We have maybe 200+ nodes, 20 Servers, 20 laptops, 20 Blackberrys, 15 Network Printers. Essentially I would like to track inventory from procurement to disposal. Anyone have a good approach, methodology, or system that I could follow? Do I need a label maker, a spreadsheet, a WMI script? I have no clue where to start and how to do this following some best practice.
