A friend of mine was given an unidentified sculpture and he has tasked me with finding the name of the original artist. The sculpture itself is large and extremely intricate which leads us to believe that it was made by a well-known artist. The only problem is that there are no markings anywhere. Here is a pulled-back view of the whole piece. Can you please help us identify it? [more inside]

This is a screencap from an episode of the "Ray Bradbury Theater" series from the 1980's. I tried using the Google Goggles app on my phone, both with the picture on my TV and on my computer monitor, but it can't scan it all the way. When it does come close, it can identify it as some sort of iconography, but that's it. Does anybody have any idea who the artist might be, or the title of the painting itself? [more inside]
Please suggest some older (or not) books/films/things that talk about the idea that you're just going to be bad for a long time before you're really successful at, or really master something (particularly an artistic pursuit). [more inside]

I can't for the life of me remember the name of a particular megamix/mashup album/artist. I remember that the first track sounded like it started with the helicopter sound from the beginning of one of the 'Another Brick..' tracks from Pink Floyd's 'The Wall', then it either sampled 'Little Fluffy Clouds' or used sampled the same interview. Closer to the end of the album 'Your Song' was mixed in. Any ideas? I believe the artist also had an album featuring mostly Flaming Lips mixes. Both were available free on his website.
my friend has a photo (not this one, but one that's similar in that there are lots of different characters doing zany things) that she wants turned into a mini painting. etsy alchemy is 'being phased out,' apparently. how could she find an artist who is willing to paint this for her? [more inside]

I'm trying to locate a web article article I saw a few years ago. It was about things a person could do to make people believe he/she was a "real" artist. I think I remember it saying that a lot of the success in the art world depends on what people think of the artist him/herself, and that the more that people saw a person as "an artist", the better the chances of getting paid (or getting paid more) for their art, and being a professional artist. (Or maybe it didn't say that and I just thought it after reading the article.) [more inside]

I'm designing a card game and I have most of my own art for prototyping, but eventually want *real* art. I have no place where to look for such a thing or how much it would cost. Does anyone have any ideas on what sort of going rate such a thing would cost? Do you pay by the hour? Any tips are greatly appreciated.

I'm trying to think of the name of a male, Eastern-European artist that made paintings of dark, unsettling landscapes. I remember being linked to a very basic webpage of his work, and I wish I could remember more details about his work. As for time period, maybe 20's-70's. Again, sorry for the lack of details. I want to say he was not well-known and did the landscapes in the 40's or 50's.
