Are there any free photo editors that can work with higher resolution images (300dpi) and offer some of the effects that Pixlr-o-matic can? They seem to save to web resolution only.

I'm looking for moving/shipping companies to send a couple of boxes of books & clothes from Australia to the USA (as I'm relocating). While requesting quotes, one company strongly suggested that I hire them to
pack my things for me as apparently US Customs get suspicious if the boxes were packed by the individual mover (me, in this case) rather than by a professional. I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere else and the US Customs website hasn't addressed this. What's going on?

Anyone know where
this image of a (child?) (elf?) (pixie?) who apparently arrived in a flying avocado originated? For some reason it captured my imagination when I first found it posted to the web several years ago. The poster only knew that they had found it "somewhere on the web". It looks like there's a whole story there - maybe a sword (broken?) and some coins among the rocks, and a somewhat dejected looking young (?) humanoid sitting on the ground. Anyone know the origin or back story?

My wife keeps a list of all the words our 1 year old has learned to say. As a present I thought it might be nice to commission an artist to make a collage of them that we could put on the wall. I'm in London, England.
I have no idea how one would do this, or if it would be affordable (I'd be prepared to spend up to around a thousand pounds). Can you commission an artist - and if so, how would you find one?

Two charcoal drawings were left behind when both my parents recently transitioned. We are attempting to establish their value. Both appear to be very old, Dutch in nature and both feature large sailboats and people "working" on shore. Each is about 36 inches long and about 30 inches tall. The artists name appears to be Janssam or Janssau...the "end-swirl" of the last letter of the name curves up and hovers over the name, back to the first "s". I have a photo of one drawing but haven't yet figured out how to post a picture on this site. Any help or suggestion toward identifying these pictures is greatly appreciated.

I'm looking for possible cheaper alternatives/ substitutes for
heavy acrylic gels for my paintings. The stuff I get at the art store is a little pricy for the amounts I like to use. I'm hoping there's some kind of (industrial?) paste out there that would act similarly. (basically, a thick medium that I can 'etch' then let dry)

Bought a piece of art (yay!) at a festival, and it got slightly damaged before I could get it home (boo!). It's a print on foamcore, 9x12", with no framing, and now it has a single, not-quite-straight crease across the back. No damage is visible from the front, except that the surface isn't flat. What's my best solution for flattening it out before framing?

I'm looking for advice on selling locally in NYC an authentic, hand-sown wall hanging art.
Here is a picture I uploaded. It depicts a village and some villagers, and I recall its origins being from India or Southeast Asia. The piece is about 20 years old and was received as a gift so I have no clue if it is a prized work or relatively worthless. Are there specific types of art dealers or specialists that will appraise and/or bid on these kinds of items?

I recently completed a series of art prints for an upcoming art show. I thought while I was getting them printed I would submit them to Zazzle and make them available online. But 3 out of 4 were rejected because of "A copyright complaint from the rightsholder". I think my work is a clear use of parody and would not be confused with an official product.

Or should I just let sleeping dogs lie?
