How to preserve paintings on plaster walls?

The third floor of my neighbor's home was made into a children's playroom many years ago and hasn't been touched since. There's very interesting (and possibly offensive) handpainted artwork on the (plaster) walls he would like to preserve, but hasn't a clue how to do it or who to talk to for advice. How should he proceed?

What constitutes a museum-quality artist?

I think I am ready to begin the transition into trying to put my photography in galleries. My main question is what are the steps that artists go through to gain exposure for their work? I understand that in the case of great artists the work usually stands on its own but I also believe that it got there not on the material items merits but due the efforts of the artist to gain exposure for their work. Where can I find out of copyright botanical engravings?

Where can I find copyright/royalty-free botanical engravings? I'm looking more images like those on the last page of The Grammar of Ornament. Printed catalogues, modern (copyright/royalty-free) books, or antique books that I can scan are fine (I have access to one of the UK's desposit libraries). Online sources would ideally be at a high-resolution suitable for printing, but if they're lo-res, I'd still love to take a look. Like I say, I'm particularly interested in botanical images, but sources of anything decorative and ca. 19th century are very welcome. Sadly, I can't use advertising, text or images of people.

Best printer?

My wife is starting her own business. She's making custom illustrations for children's nurseries. She's looking for recomendations on a printer that can produce archival level prints so she can keep the originals (we started off wondering about giclee but it seems way to expensive). The final product should feel like a professional print when framed and needs to last. Also, an thoughts on a scanner to be used in concert with the printer?

Missed art show of animated Humphrey Bogart?

Last month in the New York Times I saw an image of Humphrey Bogart from his classic film "Treasure of the Sierra Madre", but the picture was animated/rotoscoped, in the same style as the recent "Scanner Darkly". What was this from, who is the artist, and how can I see it? I do not know if the image in the paper was a shot from an entire animated version of the film(which would be awesome!), or just an artist's rendition of a single shot from the film. I saw this image in a section about art exhibits and happenings to attend in the month of July/Aug in New York. I'm a huge Bogart fan, any New Yorkers out there who can help me?

How do you mount unmounted art?

I am looking to purchase some art from ebay that is listed as Acrylic Paint on Canvas(unmounted). How would I go about preparing the canvas for hanging on the wall. My google-fu has failed me and I don't really know of any place locally I could ask. Is it just a matter of making a frame out of wood that goes behind the canvas? Does this mean the canvas will need to be stretched?

ISO American Indian Clipart, logos, graphics...

I have searched and searched online for American Indian art to no avail. More specifically - I'm looking for the kind of bold clip art (thick lines) or logo-type of art associated or signifying with each of the following: Shawnee, Lakotas, Iroquois, Ojibwe, Cahokia, Cherokee - animal art is fine as well. Are there any symbols of the same type of art that might relate to law or justice??. Am I looking for something that doesn't exist? Thanks in advance for any help!!!
