When talking to a coworker I offered the phrase, "hey kid, go ask your Mom what herpes are.". My coworker responded with "herpes is.". We then started a discussion of the proper use of is/are and could not come to a conclusion. Any insight?

Cat food filter: When presented with the same brand and same flavor of wet cat food, my cat will wolf it down at my mother's house and at a friend's house, but not at my house. He used to eat it constantly at my house as well, but suddenly stopped last spring. What gives?

In haste, I ordered tickets to a Cirque du Soleil event from a web site that charged much more per ticket than Ticketmaster. Now that I know the difference, how can get rid of these tickets and get my money back? Will I get in trouble for selling these tickets for more than they cost, and how do these companies get away with doing this?

I have a B. Arch. degree from outside the US. I am currently working in the US "california" and would like to start working on my licensing procedure. And it seems the first step is to "convert" my degree and let it be accepted as an accredited degree. where do I start? Is there special agencies that do that? How much is it going to cost me? I will need any possible advice in this matter especially if you had to go through this same process.

I have a habit of typing "There are a..." when my fingers are hovering over the keyboard waiting for my brain to make up its mind what to write. Why is this, is it a textual "um", like in speech? And why those words? And does anyone else do it?
