What is the easiest way to automatically archive IMAP emails (incoming and outgoing) from multiple user accounts? Gmail doesn't handle IMAP and I don't have access to our school's server. We need a central location to archive our research projects emails. Mac, PC, or web method okay.

Glossy photos facing each other? I'm putting photos into a scrapbook using old-fashioned photo corners, so they're mostly exposed. I've got half of my 200+ photos mounted, and suddenly wondered whether I should have avoided having their surfaces touch when the book is closed. [more inside]

I'm selling my current computer soon. There's a few GB worth of files that I'd like to preserve. Are there any free or cheap online services that will provide this service? I'll only need access to it once or twice later on, to restore it on my new computer. I only have a few blank CDs and not enough time to burn everything, and no concurrent access to the two computers. Besides, I prefer flexible online access. On a related note, I'd like store some information about the files in a text file. In the good ol' DOS days, I could pipe the 'dir' output to a text file. Except these files have some metadata that can't be displayed in the command prompt. Equivalent functionality for Windows Explorer or other GUI shells?

Audiofilter: with amazing speed, Digital Audio Tape (DAT) has become a legacy format. In the archiving community, talk is that no major company is actually producing a component level DAT deck anymore, and the portables are soon to disappear as well. Anyone know differently, or know of a retailer still sitting on a significant stock of (new) component audio DAT decks? Lots of linguists, musicians, and ethnographers are suddenly desperate to score one. [more inside]

Does anyone have any good picture/file archiving software? Specifically, I'm looking for a Windows or linux program that will do the following:

1) Support full and differential or incremental backups of directories (i.e.: just the ones that have changed since the last backup or the first backup).

2) Burn both CDs and DVDs (not using other packet-writing software).

3) Create normally readable, uncompressed discs (not blob files that can only be read by the same program).

4) Preferably, include an html preview of the whole backup set on each disc.

Basically, I think I'm looking for the exact feature set of Archive Creator, but with incremental backups or "all files created since" features, which it does not seem to do.

Suppose one wanted to scan each page of a magazine and produce a PDF file including each page in order. Is there any free software that makes this process less painful than my current solution (My current solution is to scan each page, drop them into word and then print as pdf in OSX)? It seems like there would be, but my google consultation has been fruitless.
Alternately, is there a better way to electronically preserve and distribute a long out-of-print magazine? The folks who share large runs of comic books over bittorrent spring to mind as possible sources of insight, but again, Google fails me.

Eudora has been my email client since, oh, 1994. I now have several hundred megabytes of mail. It's disappointing that Eudora doesn't have an "archiving" feature like Outlook. Does anyone know of a utility that's up to the task? Doing with manually with over 35 folders is painful.
