I have some great shoes I love that are ... falling apart. [pic
] Unfortunately, they've been discontinued! I can get something sort of similar but there are still some drawbacks. Diligent searching hasn't turned up my perfect work shoe, though. In short, I want something tough like a work boot, easy to put on and take off (i.e. velcro straps), but with walking-shoe type soles and as light as possible. [more inside]

My back is arching while sleeping (well, arching all the time actually). I'm currently doing what I can stretch-wise to try and help the problem, but I often wake up in pain. The arch makes me sore - my lower back never touches the bed. I've been told pillows for my knees/lower back would help. What knee/lower back pillows have you tried that helped relieve the pressure on your lower back? I'll probably be purchasing from Amazon.

Help me find a better soft arch support! I have been using Dr. Scholl's For Her
arch supports in my work flats and low heels and, while they are soft and supportive, they never stay in place! Has anyone found an arch support that a) stays in one place and b) doesn't add as much bulk to a shoe as an orthodic or Superfeet?

I'd like to try my hand at a Linux distro that manages to balance current software with limited days of figuring out why something exploded for apparantly no reason and now X server won't start, or there's no audio, or no networking, or no... whatever. [more inside]

I am looking for flip-flops that have nice arch support. The arch on my left foot collapses quite a bit when I walk. I want the shoes to be flip-flops, not Birkenstock-style sandals. I am male, and I live in the U.S.

Based on your experience, what would be a really excellent brand and model to go with for over the counter orthotics for arch support and stabilization of the foot?

What is this parrot behavior?: they slowly arch their neck backward and hold the pose, then repeat. I've seen it in other birds as well. [more inside]

Is there any hope of ever finding reasonably hip men's shoes that can accommodate orthotics? By "hip", I don't mean hip for, like, Herman Munster.
I live in NYC area, but will travel.
