Looking for a mobile app to multiplay poker (preferably Texas Hold 'Em) remotely without in-app purchases. iOS good, cross-platform even better. More than happy to pay for the app. (Suggestions for any other card games in this mold welcomed.)
My husband is on a perpetual hunt for Android games that are complex or challenging enough to keep his interest for more than a day or two. He enjoys RPG and puzzle games, mostly, with the occasional building or strategy game thrown in. By this point we've tried most games on various best-of lists, and he was hoping there might be some hidden gems he's not aware of. [more inside]
Certain Android games ignore my OS-level screen rotation settings and will, at the drop of a hat, switch to portrait mode from landscape, often only momentarily before flipping back to landscape. Fallout Shelter and Adventure Capitalist are the worst, and will do this even while the phone is completely motionless and either lying flat or propped up in landscape orientation, while Bloons TD5 will, again without any provocation, flip to portrait and then instantly back to landscape. This occurs regardless of whether screen rotation is enabled and is extremely obnoxious. What gives? Can this be prevented?

I’m looking for a game, playable on my iPhone, with probably crazy specific requirements. I fell in love with and completed (twice, once with huts and once without) A Dark Room. If I could erase my memory of playing that game and do it again, that’s basically what I’m after. [more inside]

I recently downloaded MeatText (☞) because of Troika's comment in this post (☞) on the blue, tried it out, and the person I tried it out on replied "How is this better than Google Maps"? Turns out GMaps for mobile has a similar feature but its pretty well hidden. I had no idea it existed. What are some other features or functions of popular apps (web, mobile, tablet, or other) that may be hidden or just unnoticed that you find particularly useful?
I think the time has come for me to jump the iPhone ship. The announcement of the Google version of the Galaxy S4 at I/O was the clincher. But I am not 100% sold on the idea, mainly because the S4 is an ugly brute, but also because I fear for the apps and innovation I will miss. Help me out, specifically in finding a worthy replacement for my beloved Mailbox app. [more inside]
