What are some apps that can make better use of my down time? I currently dip into Hay Day, a farming game, if I want to relax for a bit. It would be great if all those spare moments could be used for something useful - think distributed computing projects such as SETI and Folding@home, but for humans. [more inside]
I'm looking for ALL the iPad games that are simple enough for a 5-year old. Easy, addictive, repetitive - this is what I'm looking for. [more inside]
There are so many terrible educational apps which seem to be a combination of flash cards / slot machine with in-app purchases or hard to avoid ads. What are your favorite tablet apps which actually have taught your toddler something other than randomly swiping around the screen? [more inside]

I have decided to acquire a new iPhone. However, I've been playing Neko Atsume, and have gotten pretty far along in collecting cats and cat-related objects. Is there a way to back up my game progress so I can pick up on the new phone where I left off instead of having to start all over? [more inside]
When syncing my iPhone 5 to my Macbook Pro, every time I connect it it tries to load about 5 games from my apps collection from the Macbook to the phone. It's always the same games, and this is a new problem within the past month or so. I haven't updated the OS or anything else -- is there some "autosync" option with certain games that I need to turn off? It's a pain to have to delete them every other day.
About a year ago, my father was in an accident and suffered significant brain trauma. Since then, he has made great physical progress, but his mental progress seems stagnant. His memories are intact, thank god, but what he has trouble with is focusing/concentrating on things. I’m looking for suggestions on exercises he can do on a computer/iPad or in his regular life that can help with his healing and growth. I would also love to hear anecdotes from people who themselves have suffered significant brain trauma and what they have done to help themselves heal. [more inside]
I'm looking, roughly speaking, for a game, but it needs to be as un-game-like as possible. I'd like something interactive I can play with when feeling overwhelmed which is visually appealing, responsive, fairly simple, and has few or no objectives. Levels and world-building are too addictive for this purpose. I'd like to be able to start and stop playing quite easily, and to be able to play when my mind is out for the count (so no puzzles). Can you help? [more inside]
I’m looking for a game, playable on my iPhone, with probably crazy specific requirements. I fell in love with and completed (twice, once with huts and once without) A Dark Room. If I could erase my memory of playing that game and do it again, that’s basically what I’m after. [more inside]
I'm on Android (Samsung S4 Zoom) and my partner is on IoS (iPhone 4) - what are the best turn based/collaborative common platform games we can play together on and off during the working day? We both like word play, puzzles, general knowledge and detective mysteries, but would be amenable to considering anything that would get the old grey matter working. Hit us up with your best timewasting suggestions, venerable mefites!
I just recently took the plunge and switched to Android, which has a lot of great/cool apps. Unfortunately, most of the ones I've been trying seem to require internet connection, which is completely useless to me. I want to play games in the subway: if I had internet connection, I'd be on the internet, not playing games. Can anyone recommend some good Android apps that don't need connection?
Flying in the face of scientists' warnings, my wife and I allow our child to play with the iPad from time to time. She's outgrown most of the apps she previously played with -- does anyone have any recommendations for good puzzle, games, and educational apps that would be age-appropriate and interesting for a twenty-month-old? Thanks.
Looking for fun exploration/archaeology type games or puzzle based RPG for iphone. In the past I've played Puzzle Quest, and loved it. Hated Puzzle Quest 2. One caveat, I don't want anything where there is in-app purchases [more inside]

Are there any diet/exercise mobile apps or websites that truly embrace gamification - turning daily logging of activity and food, or fitness/diet challenges, etc., into the kind of fun, immersive game that you'd play anyway even if it weren't beneficial? [more inside]
Are there any iPhone/iPad apps or games that would help a 10-year old with her reading? When she reads out loud she does really well for a few minutes but quickly starts to skip words or guess them rather than trying to read what's on the page. She loves computer games so I was wondering if a reading game might motivate her.
