I'm interested in developing iPhone/iPod Touch applications, however my understanding is the SDK only works in OSX. I have a XP desktop and a Vista notebook with an AMD Athlon and Turion (both dual core) respectively, both pretty good machines. Is there any way to avoid spending serious cash buying a Mac just to get into iPhone development?

New Windows Mobile smartphone after years with Palm.
1. What are the best apps for a writer/teacher/trivia nut?
2. What is the best dictionary/thesaurus program? WordnetCE is not working, and the other choices I have found seem to lead back to it.
3. I like using Tasks on my Today screen, but the set-up I have either shrinks them to nothing or buries them. What is the best theme or plug-in? I am getting into GTD- mostly at the 'list everything I gotta do' stage

Syncing between laptops: How can I easily and automatically sync files and documents between two laptops using Bluetooth? Ideally I want to load up one machine in the vicinity of the other and have all my recent data (documents/data/RSS feeds etc.) syncronised with NO hassle.
Any good apps out there?

For reasons of folly I thought I'd give Windows Vista a go. As a long-time mac user I'm used to relying on the apple community for useful software suggestions and ideas. With windows, I'm not entirely sure where to start so was hoping for suggestions of equivalent software to the following:
Unison, Toast, Adium, Transmit, iPhoto, and Stuffit/Other compression utility
Low cost is good, but i'll take positive feedback over price tags any day.

I never restart the computer when I install things on Windows XP. I go weeks without rebooting, installing multiple programs. I've never had a problem. Two questions: 1) Why do so many programs require this? and 2) What's the potential for harm from ignoring their suggestion?
