Help me respect people in my life that don't seem like they are trying.

It feels like people in my life aren't trying hard enough, but as I have felt this way multiple times now, I realize the problem is within me. Moving from academia to consulting

I recently left a tenure-track position(!) for geographic reasons (spouse's job). At this point I am not wedded to staying in the faculty track, and have been applying for admin positions as well as faculty ones.
