Time Machine to Nowhere

I have a 3TB Apple HD that I’ve been *ostensibly* using, in conjunction with Time Machine, to back up my data for the past couple of years. I say “ostensibly” because it takes forever and never seems to fully complete. Please help me figure out a new approach. [more inside]

iTunes Alternative Please

I need an alternative to iTunes. I just want my music to be sorted by artist, album and song, make playlists and get all of that onto my iPod. I have Windows 10 and my iPod is an older one, appears to be version 2.0.5. I'm willing to pay for this. Please don't suggest Media Monkey, I couldn't figure how to work it and I think it was way too much for my needs.

Why does my iPhone 6S keep hanging up on me?

I love my new iPhone 6S, but I have been experiencing an annoying issue in voice calls. The call randomly cuts out - it's as if my face is coming in contact with the red "end call" icon. I understand that all iPhones from the start have had a "proximity sensor" to prevent this issue, but it seems as if this sensor isn't doing its job. I never had this issue with my previous two iPhones. The software (iOS 9.2) is up to date as of today. Is there a setting I forgot about, or should I take it back to Apple? [more inside]

How to identify mystery "click-clock" sound on MacBook Pro (OSX10.11.2)

My 2011 15" MacBook Pro makes occasional "click-clock" sounds when I'm doing things. It sounds like the sound-effect of a radio button being changed or some other innocuous event, but it happens when I'm doing something else in another window (or even on another screen). It's not a sound I ever hear when I'm actually doing something that causes the sound. How can I figure out what it is? [more inside]

Seeking simple album-oriented music player for my iPhone and iPad

I like to listen to albums and playlists from my music collection on my iPhone. I don't need a streaming service, or radio, or recommendations, or social networks. Massive time lapse project assembly on a Mac?

I've been shooting a long series of time lapse images at my job, where we're doing a massive tear down and build. The whole process will be roughly 7 weeks long total, for 8-10 hours a day, 5-7 days a week, one shot per minute for each of two cameras. Up until this point, I've been using iMovie to assemble the initial images in series, spitting video out and then loading it into the GoPro studio app and speeding it up 800-1000% (this will be used in a show and can't be longer than perhaps two minutes). Equivalent of Baydin's Email Game, but for Apple Mail or for Outlook?

I use Baydin's Email Game (https://emailgame.baydin.com/) to process email. I just got a new job, and my new company is requiring me to use Outlook Express or Apple Mail instead of gmail. Baydin's website only works with gmail or with Google Apps. Mid-2012 MacBook Air SSD got corrupted, is it one of the "bad ones"?

Yesterday my mid-2012 MacBook Air got the dreaded flashing question mark and "drive not found" text upon startup. Fortunately, I had a Time Machine backup, and I was able to get the computer running (for now - knock on wood). When I was researching the problem, I noticed that this generation of MacBook Air has issues with its SSD, and Apple will replace the drive at no charge within three years of purchase. To diagnose the issue, Apple's website says, you must install the "Flash Storage Firmware Update 1.1" from the App Store. Problem is, that update isn't there anymore... [more inside]

Help me smoothly say farewell to Microsoft and Windows

So, I am finally giving up my last personal connection to Microsoft, my home PC running Windows 7 Home Premium, and switching to a really gorgeous iMac. Everything else in my life -- phone, tablet, watch, and laptop -- are already Apple. What preparations should I engage in while waiting for the new iMac to be delivered? And what do you recommend for smoothly getting my data (photos, documents, Quicken file, etc.) from my PC to my new Mac? And is there anything else you would advise I do as I make the transition? 2011 Mac Mini DIY fusion drive issues...help please

Apple Migration Assistant Workarounds?

I'm trying to migrate from an old iMac to a new MacBook Pro, using Migration Assistant over wifi. It stalls out at "Less than a minute remaining." Apparently this is a common problem. Are there any workarounds - for example, backing up to an external disk and connecting that disk to the new computer? Is there a way to force an app to stay open/active on Apple Watch?

I like my Apple Watch so far. But the #1 reason I got it was to take it with me on long bike rides so I could see speed/distance/time at a glance. To my chagrin, after a short time out the cycling app quits, so when I glance down I see the watch face. And because I'm riding I can't swipe around to get back to the app. Surely there's a way to fix this? Or is the OS design that foolish?

Apple troubles, please help!

I have done all the standard things like delete apps and stop excess things running and done a hard reset. Can I downgrade back to IOs 7? That's the last time it ran well. 2) My safari on my Iphone 5 has started getting pop up ads that force open my app store right when I am in the middle of reading.
