We're using iPads for users to post videos directly to our Wordpress site through the official Wordpress app. The videos are being recorded on the iPads, and posted through the app's media upload feature. When we do this through the HTML4 options (which uses embed) there are no controls to start the video playing. When we do this through HTML5 the videos are rotated 90 degrees. Any ideas what's causing this video weirdness and how to fix it? [more inside]
I'm going to Kyoto for a two-day visit in November, but with only an iPod Touch 4 in my jacket pocket as I'd like to avoid bringing a heavy guidebook/backpack as I walk around exploring all day. What PDFs/docs/apps/downloads can help make my visit amazing, or at least easier? [more inside]
I spend a lot of time sitting around waiting, with my iPhone. I also spend a fair amount of time having very similar conversations, in my very poor conversational spanish, with native-speakers who (usually due to tragic life circumstances) lack education in their own language. What I don't do is expand my vocabulary or learn proper grammar. As a consequence, while I can usually understand the gist of what people say and make myself generally understood, I don't understand the details, can't express myself precisely, and I'm not getting any better at any of those tasks. Recently been experiencing lost app icons on iphone4. The phone is not jail-broken and has not been updated to ios6. The apps are still there & can be found in the search function. I did a hard reboot and some icons returned (not all), but worse, the reboot blew up my folders and screen setup. I also tried turning on & off the restrictions. No luck. Not sure what happened but is there any way to restore the icons without major disruption? Thanks.

I'm looking for a PDF reader app for my iPad. Challenge level: RPG books. I'm experimenting with using my iPad to read the rules books for D&D, Pathfinder, etc. during the game. Key features that I need: 1) Jump to an arbitrary page number; 2) Find word/phrase within the document; 3) Renders quickly even with large files with lots of graphics; 4) Ability to add bookmarks within the PDF file would be a huge plus; 5) Ability to sort files within the app with folders would be a minor plus. Recommendations?
I am hoping to find an Android app (or web service) to replace the list-making service I suspect may not be available for much longer. I do not want complexity; fewer features are better. I want to make lists, check items off and then be able to re-add them later (for a grocery list, for example). Surprisingly few apps can limit themselves to these functions. [more inside]
I watch movies when I go to bed at night. When I wake up in the morning my iPad is exhausted. I would like to have a reminder happen (that if I don't respond to) shuts down my iPad and preserves its battery. Is there a commercial or free app that does this or can I create one easily in this suggestion?

Part of a project I'm working on involves getting around 20 iPad 2s to all be the same. I'm not an Apple person at all, and this is the first time I've seriously used either the iDevice ecosystem or iTunes in any real capacity. Is there a way to make this as painless as possible? [more inside]

I'm a very happy owner of a new iPad. I also have the cheap, Chinese knockoff equivalents of the Apple Camera Connection Kit (1 for CF cards, another for SDHC and variants). They work great and cost me next to nothing. I shoot raw and fine quality jpeg pictures. How can I transfer only my jpegs to the iPad without tranferring the raw files (in this case .NEF at the same time? [more inside]

Looking for software to automatically rate songs in my iTunes library on my Mac (Mountain Lion). I have Autorate, but it hasn't been upgraded in three years and no longer works reliably with my iTunes library as of my upgrade to Mountain Lion. I've also searched Doug's Applescripts and come up dry. Difficulty: large library (18K local songs) + iTunes Match (made no difference with Autorate but has been an issue with other metadata apps).

I'm going on an overnight bike ride tonight, and I think I'm fine with all my supplies except for routing. I've got a handlebar mount for my phone, but I need a mapping app which I can use overnight which won't affect my night vision, and will save energy. Is there an Android app which I can import a .GPX file into and which can follow my progress and make sure I don't miss any turns on a minimal grey on black street map? I'm in the UK and all the route will be on Open Street Map.
Could I build an app? Is there an app for that? [more inside]
I'm looking for an iOS iPhone RSS reading application that will queue up additions Instapaper or other read later service while offline. Most that I've tried require you to be online, which stinks since I read the news on the subway a lot. I've researched like crazy but most apps or reviews don't give details on this feature in their descriptions so it's hard to know, and I can't buy them all. There is one, called Byline, but it hasn't been updated in a year and has tons of crashes when in offline mode, which defeats the purpose.

I'm looking for a simple iPhone app: I want to start exercising for 30 mins./day most days of the week, but I may not always get in the 30 mins. at once. (Apparently, it doesn't matter.) I want an app that tracks my daily minutes of exercise (e.g., 10 mins. here, 10 mins. there) and tells me how much more I have at that moment till I get to my 30-minute daily target. It'd also be nice if it told me my weekly minutes up to that point. I track my food in another app, so I don't need it to track calories.

Is there a good iPhone app for listening to my own downloaded podcasts/audiobooks that I have as mp3's? I would love an app that I can upload the mp3's to over wifi, and that has tempo control so that I can speed it up a bit. The app should remember the position I am in on each file I listen to, not just the last file.

I have a large number of books that I want to donate to a library or sell. I want to give my friends and family first pick at anything they want (my primary aim is to quickly reclaim the physical space used up by the books). I need a workflow that will allow me to scan the books' UPCs, etc. with my iPhone 4's camera and end up with an email-able spreadsheet pre-populated with ISBN/Title/Author. Columns for genre, edition and/or year, and short blurbs would also be welcome. I have a PC laptop with the MS Office suite in addition to the iPhone. What are my options? Thanks, hivemind!
