I like to listen to albums and playlists from my music collection on my iPhone. I don't need a streaming service, or radio, or recommendations, or social networks. I just want a simple user interface that lets me pick out an album (or maybe a playlist) and listen to it. Does such a thing exist for iOS? The built-in music app has gotten way too complicated, and does not work well for me or my family. [more inside]
I need a grocery app that my husband and I can both add to/sync lists for iOS (web interface nice but not mandatory). We've been using Buy Me a Pie, but it's gotten glitchy for us and won't let me add him to lists. I've seen this post, and will check out the other recs, but it's a year old, which is forever in app development time. Possible complication: spouse beta tests new iOS versions on his phone for work reasons.
I have a Moto G running Android 4.4.4 that has a bad habit of occasionally deleting an app without provocation. This is a small bother normally (I just re-download the app), but this time, it has deleted Google Play Services, which is necessary for all kinds of things. How do I fix it? [more inside]
I've had a Huawei u8651s for a few months now. It won't let me download or install apps. With the unlimited data plan I have as of today, this is now vexing me. Can anyone help? [more inside]
I've become obsessed with the Health app on my iPhone. I get that it probably uses GPS to calculate how far I'm walking/running in a day. But how does it know with crazy precision, how many flights of stairs I've gone up? What else can I get it to do, and how can I get the most out of this app? [more inside]

I’m looking for a game, playable on my iPhone, with probably crazy specific requirements. I fell in love with and completed (twice, once with huts and once without) A Dark Room. If I could erase my memory of playing that game and do it again, that’s basically what I’m after. [more inside]

I have a couple web forms I'd like to make: one for a professional purpose, another for personal use (though that could exist as a program or an app that I don't know about). Is it better to find a service that will allow you to build conditional forms, or can they be made from scratch with some ease? [more inside]

We're looking for an app to streamline our current system. In an effort to curb our chronic clutter, my husband and I have devised a point system for household tasks. We earn points collectively (not in competition with one another), and redeem them for mutually enjoyable activities and purchases (a dinner out, a 6-pack, a trip to a museum, etc). We've been keeping track of points on paper, which is a bit tedious and generates a little clutter itself. It's also easy to forget if we marked points for a completed job, as we a just using hash marks to expedite point tracking. [more inside]
My son is 10 years old and going into 5th grade in the fall (but he usually does 6th grade math). He likes Stack the States, and we're looking for a math app with similar appeal. We already have Sushi Monster and his younger sister loves it, but I'd like something more challenging for him.
I meet new people all the time, and have lots of old friends from different phases of my life. I realize I can't keep up with everyone I've ever met, but I'd like a better system for helping to manage new friendships. Is there an app like that? [more inside]
Before iGoogle disappears, I need to replace my 'Days Since' counter widget. Can you help me find one? [more inside]
iPhone user; I've experimented with exercise logging apps such as MapMyRide+, Cyclemeter and Fitocracy (most of my exercise is cycling-oriented, but I'm also looking at Kinect exercise games and, potentially, weightlifting). Is there a good combo app that logs both exercise and food intake? Or one site that could possibly accept input/imports from both? [more inside]
Siri is touted as an advanced piece of engineering technology, but as far as I know I can open Apple made apps and run a command. Very helpful if you figure it out (it's worth it), but limited indeed. What are its limits? Can this be extended? Note: There is no Siri API, or god forbid, SDK, to speak of.
I'm going to Kyoto for a two-day visit in November, but with only an iPod Touch 4 in my jacket pocket as I'd like to avoid bringing a heavy guidebook/backpack as I walk around exploring all day. What PDFs/docs/apps/downloads can help make my visit amazing, or at least easier? [more inside]

I have a large number of books that I want to donate to a library or sell. I want to give my friends and family first pick at anything they want (my primary aim is to quickly reclaim the physical space used up by the books). I need a workflow that will allow me to scan the books' UPCs, etc. with my iPhone 4's camera and end up with an email-able spreadsheet pre-populated with ISBN/Title/Author. Columns for genre, edition and/or year, and short blurbs would also be welcome. I have a PC laptop with the MS Office suite in addition to the iPhone. What are my options? Thanks, hivemind!

Are there companies that sell access to nutritional information databases that I could subscribe to that a smartphone app could make use of via scanning bar codes and performing certain custom calculations?
When someone makes an Android/iPhone app that scans a food product's bar code and returns nutrition information on that food from a database, who made that database? I can see Weight Watchers doing their own, but surely not everybody reinvents the wheel on this every time somebody makes an app that does something similar. Does anyone sell access to such a database? If so, who is that? [more inside]
