Teaching on the sly

Music teaching n00b filter. I now have a tablet with ear training software I use in lessons and discovered the kids quite automatically pick up terms like "minor second" which I hadn't dreamt about teaching them yet. Just as they're in the app. Then when they're stuck on a melody on their instrument I say "go up a minor second here" and it works. Holy interval, batman! What are similar ways you use to teach musical concepts without being all obvious about it? Would it be correct to classify this as active/experiental learning and what are your favourite resources? Best way to make free international calls?

I make international calls daily on Skype for my work. Because I freelance, I pay the Skype bill, and would like to check out free alternatives. Is there something reliable out there? The catch is I also have to be able to record each call. (Occasionally I'm able to call someone directly on Skype, but most of the time, I'm calling a mobile or land line). If there's a good alternative out there, I might use it for domestic work calls in the U.S. too. I could use either an iPhone app or my laptop.

Can I make phone calls from my android phone using a google voice app?

I used to use talkatone to make calls from any android device for free, through google voice. Google voice shut down support for that through talkatone back in may 2014. Now I found a similar App but it makes you watch advertisements to get tokens to make "free" calls. Does anyone know an app that actually works, for free, on android? Thanks.

My kid is spamming my Facebook friends with Dragon City invites. Help!

My 9 year old loves Dragon City. I de-authorized the FB app to post on my behalf through Facebook settings, but it's still very easy to send invitations to all Facebook friends through the Dragon City app (which my son usually plays on my iPad). As far as I understand, there's no way to play Dragon City without linking it to a Facebook account. Is there anyway to turn off the ability to invite Facebook friends? [more inside]

Measuring power in an AC cable with iPhone sensors. How does this work?

My electric utility released an iPhone app called "DTE Insight" which (among other things) measures the amount of power flowing through an appliance's power cord by asking you to hold the cord against a specific part of the iPhone at a specific angle. I have tested it against my Kill-a-Watt and it seems remarkably accurate for what it is. It presumably uses the iPhone's magnetic field sensor to accomplish this, but how on earth does it actually work? [more inside]

Recent Mac App sale?

Can you help me find a very recent price reduction on a number of Mac apps? I ran across it within the last two days, Aug 6 or 7. A blog mentioned a short-term price reduction on apps via the App Store, perhaps 20 titles. Some were of interest to me. Since I was rushed, I briefly noted it and moved on, expecting to be able to retrace it in my browser history. Only thing is, now that I am able to look for it, there doesn't seem to be anything that matches this. Any help would be appreciated.

Apps That Help Combine Photos to Fix When People Don't Smile or Blinking

Suggestions on Where to Submit a Non-Game iPhone App for Review

I've recently created an iPhone app that's not a game, but falls more in the "Entertainment" category (it uses Twitter to predict the future). A slight under-understanding of Tinder

I am having trouble understanding how matches are formed. If I am bisexual and it shows me pictures of people of both genders, does that mean or imply those people are interested in people of my gender, or does it just randomly show men and women when both are selected? Is the pool of people I am shown a pool of people who already said they liked me first and then people who haven't been asked only after those people? Does it ever show me a picture of someone who has already specifically said they don't like me? And along the same lines, does it sometimes (as it seems) show me a bunch of people who haven't yet had the opportunity to thumbs up or thumbs down me, and if they do thumbs me up, will it then tell me and them we matched at the same time? Thank you. Postscript: Also - why so many matches and so few people initiating conversation?
