2 years ago while looking for NYC apartments I came across an Upper East Side Broker's office that allowed me to leave my license and in return get a list of apartment rentals and keys to check them out that afternoon, by myself with no agent. Now I need to actually make the NYC move. Help me find a place that will do this? please?

Myself, my partner and a two of our friends have booked flights to Amsterdam for a week's break away and we need to find somewhere to stay. Ideally, we were thinking about an apartment so we can actually
live there for a week rather than just stay; hotels and hostels are all well and good but it would be great to be able to cook and have a space to relax.

I currently live in Center City, Philadelphia in a 700 sq. ft. apartment that costs me $1300 / mo without parking. I'm getting married in the spring and I'm looking to move out of the city to the suburbs. I'd like to find a reasonably priced one-bedroom place with parking and access to public transportation. What areas or apartments outside the city do you recommend?

What's the best way to find out who owns an apartment in New York City? A relative of mine has been offered a sublet, but the circumstances seem very shady.

I've lived in L.A. for several years. I've just signed a year lease on a place I like very much, except there's an increase in street noise both sporadic and repetitive that's got me worried. All of my windows face the street and all but one have wooden frames with old-timey latches that don't do a great job of blocking out noise. Does noise-reduction moulding work? Heavy curtains? Any tips for dealing with street noise/apartment building noise in general?
