If things go well, I will be moving to Prague in the spring. I do have a friend there, however, I am trying to not bug them very much now as I am still in research stage. Where should I live?

I work remotely (technically could work from anywhere, though it's easiest to be based in the U.S.) and I live in the Bay Area right now. Because I only make around $65,000, this isn't a very affordable place for me to live anymore. I'd like to move into a bigger apartment, and ideally would like to buy a house, so I'm considering moving somewhere else. More inside! [more inside]

Landlord putting apartment on the market

The owner of the condo I'm renting has informed me that he's putting it on the market, and had a realtor check out the place and talk to me. He thinks any future buyer will likely be a professional real estate buyer, who will continue with the lease arrangement I currently have, but there's no assurance that this will be the case. Meanwhile, another apartment has opened up in the same complex, a complex which I love. Do I stay or move? [more inside]

Moving 1BR Apt from CT to NC in one week: help?

Looking for some advice on moving a one bedroom apartment worth of stuff from Connecticut to North Carolina the week of New Years! Legitimate moving companies (Atlas/United/etc.) can't do it in such short notice. Renting a UHaul/Budget van is as expensive as using a company with little/no reviews. Any other suggestions? Any specific references for a reputable company which can make this happen? Thanks!

Moving from SF to Silicon Valley - need advice on cars and housing

So I've lived in beautiful San Francisco, California since 2005, but I've recently started a job down in Sunnyvale. I can take Caltrain down there, but it's an hour's trip plus half an hour on either end to get from home/work to the Caltrain station in question. This is not sustainable, so I'd like to move south. I'm 31, single, and a city boy from way back, so moving to The Suburbs gives me pause. Also, I sold the only car I've ever owned back in '05 shortly after I moved here.
