Having crossed over, unseen by most, from another dimension of the the inner mind to the outer limits of the night gallery, where do I go next?

I've seen The Twilight Zone. I've seen The Outer Limits. I've seen Tales From the Darkside. I've seen (and, puns notwithstanding, was bored by) Tales From the Crypt. I've seen Night Gallery. What else is there for me to see? [more inside]

Anthologies about Abortion and Homosexuality?

Does anyone know of any good anthologies featuring true stories, told in first or third-person, about (a) abortion in the United States before Roe vs. Wade, or (b) homosexuality in the United States in the 1960s and before, when it was very heavily stigmatized? I have some social conservatives in my family, along with some newly minted moderates and liberals, and I'd like to give the former some things to ponder, and the latter some talking points and fuel for their progressive opinions. you die alone and confused, unable to ever locate that anthology you were thinking about

I thought I heard about an anthology that was endings to nonexistant Choose Your Own Adventure books. Or similar adventure gamebooks. I vaguely recall hearing about this through one of the fiction podcast places, so it might be a podiobook, not a dead-tree book. Anyone know what I'm talking about? [more inside]

Horror anthology recommendations

I'm looking for various horror anthologies -- numerous writers with no overarching subject such as "Zombies!" or "Vampires!". I have enjoyed a few such as Foundation of Fear, Prime Evil, Revelations, and 999.

What are your favorite non-fiction anthologies?

I really enjoy reading those anthologies of the best American non-fiction stories that come out every year -- particularly because they a) are easy to finish in 20-40 minutes and b) introduce me to new magazines/writers/concepts. I'm looking for other compendiums of magazine-style writing or articles or suggestions on where to go to find new collections of feature-length non-fiction pieces. [more inside]

Short story involving children seeing an alternate world in the holes of stones

Short Story Filter. I remember a short story that I read in a sci-fi story anthology back in the mid 90's that I haven't been able to find since. There are a group of three boys, one of them substantially younger, who play out in a big field. One of the older boys tells the younger boy, as a joke, that if you look through the hole in the middle of a stone, you can see into another world of some kind. Mysterious circumstances then occur. My god, it's full of Stars

I'm looking for a series of hardback science fiction anthologies I dimly remember from childhood (sometime in the mid 80s). I think it had a one word title with a number, and the series went up to at least number five. I remember two stories in particular... [more inside]
