Looking to become a "cord cutter" and drop satellite TV from my monthly bills. I live in Boston and am looking for the best outdoor OTA I can mount on my house.
See the photo at the link below (the round connection that is over the white label): Link. What kind of connection is this and what kind of cable should I use? I need to connect a TV antenna (coax cable) to the TV input so I can watch TV on my projector. Thanks.
I need TV antenna advice tailored to my specific circumstances, and no amount of googling has helped beyond generalities. Yes, this is another cable cutting question. [more inside]
I came across this interesting looking (what I assume to be an) antenna in an otherwise empty lot. I'm curious to know what it might be used for and, as a bonus, why it needs to look like this as opposed to what I think of as more "typical" antenna shapes. [more inside]

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know why no one sells a dime-sized TV antenna like the kind Aereo used in its datacenters? Or does anyone know where I might buy some? Or.. how well they work? (I assume they work since plenty of people bought Aereo's service and were happy with it... until it got shut down.) [more inside]
My Airport Extreme (A1143 model) is having issues in our new house. It was built in the 50's so the floor has lots of metal in it due to the plastering of the ceiling below. We get wifi in part of the finished basement but no the whole thing, and even the "good" part drop pretty frequently. [more inside]
I have an indoor antenna that cuts out when cars drive by. I've seen glowing reviews for some antennas but they don't mention if they are located in areas that have heavy traffic. This post provided a little help but I am looking for specific recommendations. Thanks!
I do not own a TV and I don't have a cable subscription. I don't want to get either one of those things. I do, though, occasionally like to watch broadcast TV (or recordings of broadcast TV) on my MacBook Pro or iPad. Aereo was a great solution. Now that Aereo is gone how can I create an approximate replacement for use in my home? [more inside]
We've got a fancy new window antenna and so far are getting nothing but snow. I think we need to raise our game a level to finding a really good online discussion group with lots of people with lots of different televisions. [more inside]
I have a TV hooked up to an antenna. I get all the network broadcast channels in HD. Sometimes, I would like to record some shows/sports that I'm not around to watch live. In way olden times I would buy a VCR, hook it up to my TV, set the timer, and everything would be hunky dory. But DVRs have me befuddled. Do you have a recommendation for a DVR without a subscription (what exactly are you subscribing to) that can work with an antenna? [more inside]
I would like to connect two homes that are about 150m apart in order to share an internet connection. Unless convinced otherwise the cheapest solution is likely a point-to-point wireless link at 2.4ghz (using directional antennas and tomatousb/ddwrt). I have line of sight but there are some trees in the way: is this feasible? Bonus: will cheap 14 dbi panel antennas be good enough with the trees?
I have this stereo and I need a radio antenna for it. I'm not sure what precisely I should be looking for. [more inside]
We have a TV but no cable subscription (we mostly watch content through Netflix or purchase on Xbox). We used to be able to watch the normal network channels with no problem -- Fox, NBC, CBS, ABC, and several PBS stations, along with some other stuff. We had both regular and HD channels. Now they're all gone and the only channels we can access are some jazz scheduling thing out of San Mateo, a bunch of radio channels, and NHK World (learning a lot about Japan!). I really miss PBS and wouldn't mind watching the Super Bowl. Please help. [more inside]
So I don't have cable. I just watch broadcast TV using an antenna. And that's just fine. But sometimes we get an annoying about of stutters and lost signal. It's annoying! So what's the best kind of HD digital antenna I can get to make sure I never lose signal when watching The View in the afternoons? I can't afford to miss even one syllable of the genius of Jenny McCarthy! [more inside]
Mr. Darling and I have been fantasizing about ditching cable and relying solely on over the air channels and streaming. We have the streaming, but our metal roof is apparently not compatible with successful antenna reception. We also probably can't mount the antenna on the roof because to receive the local stations, it would need to be mounted on the front of the house, which is unattractive and not what we want. So, how can we still get our local channels without enriching the local cable company? Should we cut back to basic cable? Is there some other way around this?
We just moved to a new town where, apparently, over the air television signals cannot reach. When I input my address into AntennaWeb, I get this response: "No Stations were predicted for this address. Due to factors such as terrain and distance to broadcasting towers, signal strength calculations have predicted no television stations may be reliably received at this location." Without giving away my home address, I live in zip code 17837. I really would like to get OTA stations without purchasing cable or a satellite. What are my options? [more inside]
I was perusing an online deals site, when I happened upon this. I live less than a mile from my office, and my home DSL is much faster than my office DSL. This got me wondering: Could I install something like this at home and use my home DSL at work? [more inside]

HDTV antenna amplifier recommendations? I live in an apartment in a downtown area and the TV reception is poor even with my antenna designed for fringe reception. My current antenna amplifier is a Winegard HD200 with forward gain of 24dB which definitely helps, but can you recommend an even more effective amplifier for O.T.A. reception in the U.S.? Sometime back there was a recommendation to hook two amplifiers in series but my experience doing that showed a decline in performance and I think the theory states that reflection of signal back toward the source can diminish any improvement, ie the gains of two amplifiers in line are not additive. If I can get the amplifier thru Amazon, that's a plus. Thanks.
