I make and sell bow ties and other wedding-ish related mens' accessories, and I've been invited to vend at an upcoming wedding market event. I've never planned a wedding (Mrs. usonian and I eloped) nor attended a wedding expo in my life, and have no idea what to expect in terms of how people shop at these things. [more inside]
We replaced our 40 year old boiler this fall and were expecting to get some energy savings. We ended up using slightly more gas last month than the year before. What's going on? [more inside]

I lucked into a professional level potter's wheel for a great price this past weekend. While pottery is something I've been interested doing in my whole life, I've never actually used a wheel before. There are plenty of beginner classes and workshops around... but there are also a lot of videos on YouTube. Any reason I shouldn't have a go at it myself and put money towards tools/supplies/a kiln instead of spending it on a class? [more inside]
Is there any service/script/app that will automagically take the photos from a date range in my Flickr photo stream and set them up to be a printed and bound book? The model for most tools is upload, review, print. I would like it to be capture all from Flickr, review, print. The first is an include model, the second is an exclude model. Since I take on the order of 500 pictures/year, the first model is onerous.
I have a ton of old, ad hoc backups from a variety of old computers going back years. I've been very good about keeping the data around and alive, safe from bitrot, but not at organizing it or keeping it useful. How do I sort through this heap of disorganized data and make it useful? [more inside]

I have this book by Jack Sendak, with illustrations by Mitchell Miller. All I know or can find about Mitchell Miller is that he illustrated two books for Jack Sendak, as did Sendak's brother. Thing is, Miller's work looks awfully familiar.
Kickstarter's arbitrary categories (staff picks, recently funded, etc) seem not to let me look at what I want to look at. I just want to be able to do what the link at the front says: 'See all 318 Games projects'. Except I just want tabletop games, and I want to be able to sort them how I want: oldest, newest, most pledges, about to end, whatever. Is there something online that does this? An app, perhaps? Or am I missing something completely about the existing interface? (To be clear, I am not looking for an alternative to Kickstarter. I just want to look at Kickstarter differently.)
I have a bag of dried epazote for beans. Two problems. First, it's a mix of coarser, stalky material and leaf matter of varying fineness. Should I run it through a food processor to make it uniform (like, say, dried oregano) before measuring? Second, how much (processed or not) should I use to a pound of beans? I've seen everything from 1 tsp to 2 tbsp. One tsp of coarse would be nothing like 2 tbsp of fine, for example.
What are the dimensions of the plastic petri dishes used to store disease cubes that ship with the Pandemic expansion, On The Brink?

I think I may have bitten off more than I can chew. I am doing a favor reluctantly for a group of friends. I will be performing a small part in a staged musical for a local theater company. Hint: I perform in a wheelchair, have a German accent and show some leg at the end of the play. I have never sung on stage before. I am really terrified I am going to screw this up. I have held my own in rehearsal but I know I am nowhere near the level of talent of my fellow performers. The show starts Friday and runs for three weekends. Anyone out there have any vocal exercises I can use to help build my range and confidence?

Can you recommend a way for me to heat a large amount of water quickly at a venue that does not have a reliable boiler? I am involved in a UK event where we will have a hot tub. Unfortunately we can't get access to the venue until the morning of the event, meaning that the usual 24-48 hour period to use the tub's own heater is not an option. I have sourced a few potential solutions but am hoping the hive mind will help me narrow them down or suggest others. [more inside]
