Around 2 weeks ago I decided to actually properly recover from my eating disorder.
And I am hoping that some people here with relevant medical knowledge or personal experience might be able to give me some advice on how to proceed and information on what I can physically expect, as the information given online is often very contradictory. I live in a rural area (UK) and have had very negative experiences with the local medical professionals/counselling services (I also get the impression that most GPs will not be very well informed anyway) so I am attempting to do this very much on my own.

I have a reasonable suspicion that a friend is abusing her two-year-old son. This same friend is also pregnant with her second child. I have been observing her behavior for several months now and I am as sure as I can be without direct proof that she is harming both of her children. I know that calling Child Protective Services is a HUGE deal, but I am generally very concerned about the health and safety of these kids. Please help me make the most difficult decision of my life thus far. Should I call Child Protective Services? Yes, I am a parent myself and so yes, I know that if I am wrong, that it would be life shattering.

A few weeks ago while I was clicking around a bunch of size acceptance/health at every size blogs, I came across a comment from someone claiming that most if not all recovering/recovered anorexics require more food/calories than someone else of their relative same size who hadn't been anorexic (or maybe it was that they are
hungrier? I do not remember exactly). I can't find this comment again, and my Google searches for any kind of study or explanation have not been fruitful.

My sister has been anorexic for two years, and has just recently confided in me about it over the holidays. She says she's the worst she's ever been, and has stopped menstruating and rarely eats anything. I've talked to her about it, and our parent made her go see a doctor, and while she's open and honest about it (I think) she is adamant that she doesn't want help and doesn't want to see a therapist.
She's moving out on her own with a friend, and I live in a different province, and I'm scared that it's just going to get worse and worse until one day I get a phone call saying that she's had a heart attack.
I feel helpless and worried and angry and frustrated. She'll talk to me about it but I feel like I'm alienating her whenever I bring it up.
I need help.
Oh and our parents are useless to help. And wouldn't go to family therapy. What can I do?

“The Case of Ellen West” was published by the Swiss psychiatrist, Ludwig Binswanger, in 1944–1945 and (as far as I can tell) appeared in English translation in 1958. Anyone know where I can get a copy? Usual search suspects are turning up only the Carl Rogers article, "Ellen West and Loneliness", in the Review of Existential Psychology and Psychiatry (which I've requested via interlibrary loan) and some other scholarly pubs on Rogers (behind the usual pay walls).

I am trying to recall a book that was published for twelve-year-old girls in the mid-1980s or earlier; a YA book, I suppose. It was about gymnasts who were anorexic and pushed too hard by their coach. On the cover was a painting or drawing of girls in leotards on a chessboard. It was a wonderful book and I cannot remember its title.
