I'm coming up on the one-year anniversary of my husband's death and am trying to figure out how to mark it without a grave or ashes and with my young daughter. [more inside]
Remember the engagement BBQ? Well today is my and my husband's third anniversary! WOO! We joked that a third anniversary is probably the pickle anniversary and that they save all the expensive fancy stuff for the fives and tens of anniversaries. So now I want to do something special and pickle themed for him this weekend. I only have a couple days and limited means to pull this together, but in the green I trust... [more inside]
My boyfriend (24M) and I (23F) are looking for an anniversary vacation spot in mid-September! I'm open to any commentary on my shortlist below and options I haven't considered. [more inside]
Hello hivemind, my spouse and I have our anniversary coming up and I would like to get us simple gold engrave-able his/hers ring set. The rings need to be well made and durable (not tarnishing). I am looking at online stores/etsy sellers -- are there any that you could recommend that could fit the bill? Your input is much appreciated!
Recommend me a board/tabletop game involving paper to give to my spouse for our first wedding anniversary. [more inside]
My spouse and I will soon be celebrating a milestone in our marriage. I would like to get her an anniversary ring. But I’m uncertain about the options. If you know anything about jewelry I would appreciate your advice. [more inside]
What poems / readings would you recommend for a 50th Anniversary? My parents have been having health issues so I would prefer to avoid the usual "ha ha you're falling apart" joke poems about pills and getting infirm. They are somewhat stoic but have a good sense of humor.
I work for a community non-profit organization. A local iconic structure in our neighborhood is turning 50 years old this year. On its actual 50th birthday, the community will be invited to visit it and take part in a couple of special activities, and we’d like to have a giveaway item that will be exclusively for that day’s visitors. What should it be?? [more inside]
My parents' 50th wedding anniversary is coming up (just over a month) and one of the gifts is going to be a nice bottle of port from the year they got married (1965). Spending "a few hundred" dollars is fine. While this is a symbolic gift, it's also yummy port and is meant to be drunk, so nothing that is "too nice to drink". Dry, red-wine ports are preferred, but I'm flexible.
My parents' anniversary is coming up, and once again I'm stumped. I never know what makes an appropriate, welcome gift to parents from their kids. Outside of big-anniversary gifts like parties, crystal, silver, and super handcrafted scrapbooks and the like, what are some good ideas for anniversary presents in an affordable, say $25-50 range?
We have next Monday and Tuesday free for our anniversary and are looking for a last-minute overnight outing in or near Seattle (less than 1 hour or so away). Ideally the trip includes at least some of the following: great food including a possibly slightly fancy dinner, a swanky or at least interesting place to stay, water views, bookstores, light to moderate outdoorsiness, strange museums or art, low-key adventure. It need not include Hallmark-card-style "romance." It MUST include at least one really kickass sandwich. [more inside]
Next week it'll be ten years since Mr Bookish and I started dating. Somehow it feels like my go-to gift ideas are not an option for this momentous event - and I am notoriously bad at thinking of gifts anyway. Help me out here. [more inside]
My friend works in a US university library. They are trying to design a major event, basically a milestone/anniversary, and are trying to come up with ideas. The "anniversary task force" have so far come up with a flash mob, but this seems perhaps a little 2013(?) and cliched. They are ideally looking for contemporary things that are not hugely expensive or difficult to organize, and have little risk of incident, hassle or legal problems. Bonus if they are things that can be recorded for posterity and used in future library publicity.
Just over ten years ago I asked the following Question . So we're now coming up to our tenth Wedding Anniversary. Looking to get my wife something special, we're planning a trip away later in the year so that's sorted, but also want something for the day. My idea is for me to get a bottle of wine from every year we've been married. Now not knowing much about wine looking for recommendations for each year. Budget is to spend about £30-40 on each bottle, with the landmark years (wedding, kids born) spending a bit extra.

Our 4th wedding anniversary is coming up in a couple of weeks and I want to give the traditional gift of fruit. I'm thinking of something like those crazy Japanese melons (although not SO expensive). A couple of steps up from Harry and David. Does such a service exist in the SF Bay area?
Now that we've paid the tax bill, we are thinking of scaling back a bit on our 10th anniversary trip this June.* We're leaving the kiddo with family in Pittsburgh PA and will have our car. We can drive to New York or DC or Appalachia or... you get the idea. Where should we go for 4-7 days that is some combination of fun, romantic, diverse, interesting, etc? We'd like to feel like we had a great experience for a great value. [more inside]

4 years ago, I posted this question, about coming up with weird interpretations of "traditional" anniversary gifts, and y'all came up with some brilliant answers. I ended up going with the "periodic table" idea, which we continued through our 17th, 18th, and 19th anniversaries. Our 20th anniversary is May 1, and now I need a twist on the theme of "China." I was among the unfortunate many who was not able to attend to Doctor Who panel at SDCC 2013 and thus did not have the pleasure of viewing the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Trailer; I know Steven Moffat made it abundantly clear that he did not want to see anyone leaking the trailer, so I'm not really expecting to see any pirated versions. I guess the question I'm trying to ask is: When will the BBC allow the trailer to be public?
Alright, we're down to the wire and I'm stumped for an anniversary present for my husband. The "traditional" material for this year is bronze. [more inside]
It will be a year since my boyfriend and I have been dating! He's great, we're in love, living together since May. I want to do something but have no idea what. The problem is: The 1 yr mark is Saturday and we'll actually be away on an all day family outing so we won't have much alone time. I've gone back and forth about how to acknowledge or celebrate this. We are both introverts and don't like to make a big deal about things. But having him in my life has made my life so much better and it feels right and important to commemorate in some way especially since I was going through so much when we met. [more inside]
I make a gift for our wedding anniversary every year. This year I need to make something out of / involving leather, but the amount of work/resources needed to craft leather seems quite daunting. Any ideas or cool alternatives? [more inside]
I'm searching for an awesome 5th anniversary gift, made from wood or silver, with an adventure-y theme (this can be pretty loosely interpreted). It'll be a supplement to a primary gift I've already splurged on, so I'm looking for something <$100. My only idea so far has been a compass, but the wooden ones are more like decorative desk sets (I'd prefer something practical and usable) and the silver ones are either really expensive or really ugly. It's for a man, and he doesn't wear much jewelry. And I need to be able to get it by Friday. Help!
I had surgery this morning to remove another kidney stone. Tomorrow is my birthday and 4 year anniversary with my boyfriend. Any ideas on how to have a special day in the house? More info inside... [more inside]

We've been before and have seen some of the sights (list after the break), but are looking for things we might have missed, awesome places we haven't eaten at, great things we haven't seen, etc, so we can make the most of it. Only limiting factor: neither of us drive. [more inside]
We're celebrating our 20th anniversary this summer (yay!) and we're trying to find a place to stay for a week in the western/northwestern US to celebrate this milestone.
