My anger is, frankly, getting out of hand.

I`ve always had a hard time controlling my anger. Either I let too much out, or I end up bottling it up and feeling super stressed and resentful - either way, I feel awful afterwards. It seems that both happened simultaneously this time around; I got super, unhealthy-level angry at a family member over a problem that, although upsetting to me, is probably trivial in the grand scheme of things. This is no good for my health, and is obviously not helping our relationship. Please help me come up with strategies that I can employ which let someone know that I am upset, yet keep my anger level from rising to the point of no return. [more inside]

Resources for abusive spouses seeking help?

I've just left an abusive relationship and have found information and support from domestic violence organizations, churches, therapists, etc. for myself as a victim of domestic violence. What I haven't found is information I can pass on to my ex to support his willingness to seek help. Is there a comprehensive list of links to mental health resources that explain to an abuser/person with anger issues how to seek help or, even better, how to do the work necessary to make that help useful? How to stop my father's rages (or at least their effect on me)?

Throughout my life, my father has had anger issues, typically directed at me. Although he isn't violent, he will become extremely (almost uncontrollably) angry whenever I do anything 'wrong'. Now that I'm an adult and no longer financially dependent on him, I want to stop this cycle. However, I'm having trouble figuring out how to do this. [more inside]

Is there a quick reroute for knee-jerk grar?

Lately, I've been having a violently negative reaction to noise, though I've always been pretty sensitive. I've found a way to relax using white noise to muffle conversation in my house, but sudden blaring noises (especially car horns in close proximity) provoke intense anger. How does one control one's short-term anger or anxiety responses to uncontrollable physical stimuli? [more inside]

take it easy

I have a valued employee that is in charge of several other staff members. His position is one that makes him not easily replaceable. I was just shown some texts that he had written to one of the staffers during off duty hours, personally berating the staffer and going to the point of almost threatening him. This staffer as a result has given his two weeks notice. [more inside]

How can I not be offended by my girlfriend's lack of enthusiasm?

My SO has no passion and this turns me into an asshole. When I talk to her about things like finances or anything serious, she ignores me, and she doesn't know what she wants from life and has no wish to find out. She settles for what she has with no desire to improve anything. And the very very douche-y tone that I write that description in is a problem as well. [more inside]
