Know a good B&B in the North Georgia Mountains?

Recommendations for a bed and breakfast or similar lodging in North Georgia or Tennessee? I would like to gift a night or two getaway to my lovely parents for xmas. They live just north of Atlanta, so a b&b in Appalachian country would be an ideal place to send them. They regularly visit blue ridge and enjoy hiking there, but I'm still looking for a place that is more luxurious than it is "roughing it." Most b&b websites are pretty shoddy, so personal experiences or recommendations are greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Typing: from 60wpm to 90wpm

From a reasonably good [60wpm] looking-at-the-keys typist to a reasonably good [90wpm] touch typist. I currently type at ~60wpm. I have to look at the keyboard every 3-or-so words. I want to touch type for 2 reasons,

1. To improve speed,
2. So I can copy text effectively, i.e., not have to look at the keys now and again.

Where's the best place to go from here?

Travelling with Ritalin

I currently live in Brazil but shall be returning to my country of origin, the UK, for a month or so in December. I recently managed to get a prescription for Ritalin from a psychiatrist here in Brazil and was wondering whether I'd have any complications in bringing this back into the UK. I will most likely be travelling with two 10mg boxes containing twenty tablets each. Perhaps even less. I only use it when I have a really important project to do and, as I'm in the middle of my Masters dissertation, I'm going to need it big time.

Any tips would be appreciated. Luckily, I photocopied the prescription before handing it to the pharmacist because she kept it and I'd have had no supporting documentation. The matter is somewhat complicated by the fact that I was prescribed by a psychiatrist friend without a proper diagnosis, though I have known for a long time that I have a pretty severe case of ADD Inattentive-type for which Ritalin helps me tremendously (i.e. on Ritalin, I can behave like a normal human being).

DESPERATE! Babysitter diagnosed with HIV...... The babysitter for our 17 month old granddaughter has been diagnosed with HIV. To make matter worse she is a family member of my daughter-in-law. Hopelessly lost in algebra land

I am having the hardest time working with positive and negative integers in elementary algebra. Please hope me. I'm back in college after 20+ years and have gone back in time to elementary algebra. I didn't get it in high school and I'm still having a hard time getting it now. My specific problem is adding and subtracting positive and negative numbers, as well as accurately reading them in an equation. For example:

5(-2) - 4(-2) + 3

this has my eyes crossed. I want to rewrite it as -10 - 8 + 3 which is I'm pretty sure incorrect. I have to get this straight now because otherwise I'll be making sign errors all through the rest of my class, even if my math and rest of the problem solving is correct.

I have made flash cards with the "rules" for addition and subtraction with signed integers and refer to them but sometimes I still come out with the wrong answer.

Does anyone have any other ideas or tips for how to get over this mental block I have with the whole signed integer thing?

Any good job ideas for quadriplegics?

I am a 52 year old quadriplegic (C-4,C-5 incomplete) former oil and gas senior executive. Until recently, I've been able to both support my family and afford the post-Cobra health insurance premiums available through our Texas High Risk Pool. I'll will soon be overtaken by the myriad of expenses now beginning to snowball. Does anyone know of any legitimate stay-at-home jobs for people like me? While I can leave home occasionally for meetings, etc., realistically I need to find something (computer-based, in all likelihood) to do from my home. I would like to supplement my income by a minimum of $25,000/year.

What do Different Colors Look Like on B&W Film?

Shooting a black and white 16mm film. It's my first (an "exercise"), and I'm not yet sure of the stock. How do different colors show up when filmed w/ BW film? My specific concerns: how best should I costume my actors so they remain dynamic when photographed (ie. nice deep blacks or pure-ish whites; avoid grey)? Esp: how can I costume them to keep them distinct from the background (grey/brown garage walls). Let me know if you need more info to be helpful; thanks meta people.

C&D letter to a blogger

I am writing on behalf of another blogger who is in need of advice and recently received a C&D from a law firm stating that the name of her frugal wordpress blog infringed on the rights of another Miami Herald blog- specifically the word "frugalista" - She is looking for assistance should she decline to change the name of her site. There seem to be many people who use the word "frugalista" so the lawyers have quite a road ahead of them unless they are only going after those blogs/websites that are in the Florida area.

If you don't have a linen closet, where do you keep your towels and sheets? I was cleaning out our guest room and realized that the large decorative wooden chest that we cram all our extra blankets, afghans, sheets and towels in was straining at the seams, so I took the towels out. But now I have nowhere to put them. I've tried storing linens in large plastic totes before, but they always end up musty.

Do you have an actual piece of furniture for this purpose? Link it!

[End of Summer Drinks Filter]: Scandinavian summer is quickly coming to a close, and I need some great ideas for end of summer cocktails! Looking for new and exciting instead of the usual spirit and mixer stuff. Thanks follow mefite imbibers for your advice! Having a big party next week to celebrate the close of summer, as everyone is back to work after July off.

What kind of cocktails would be best suited to an outdoor fest where the weather will be on the warmer sides of the 70s (22-27C). We have a full bar and juices etc. can be sourced.

Important to note that speed plays a role. What we don't want is a punchbowl, just some great drinks. Think along the lines of a fully stocked bar with blenders etc.

Please help calm an over anxious first time mom. Is it dangerous for a baby to be around a cell phone constantly? My son is two months old. When I nurse him, I use my Blackberry Bold constantly, either checking e-mail, on the phone or on the internet. Is it dangerous for him to be so close to the device so often? The kid's a non stop eater........

Help me make an awesome homemade (adult) Slip N' Slide. After seeing one of those cheesy little Slip N Slides in Target this afternoon, I decided I want to pull off a major adult-size contraption for our 4th of July shindig. I looked at a few videos on YouTube and this one in particular suggests using simple 6 Mil Plastic Sheeting from a home store. Will that work?

Here's where it gets tricky. The yard we plan to use it in is level for the most part. How do I get water to run the length of it? Just a sprinkler at the top and maybe one in the middle? Or should I use baby oil like a friend suggested and fore go the water completely? Do I just stake it into the ground (tent stakes?) and repair it as it eventually starts to tear? I also plan on getting a few floats so people can sled down it if that will work better. Is there a way to do a ramp into a kiddie pool that won't be life threatening for possibly inebriated attendees?

I'm thinking, i'll probably end up with something like this. which frankly, might be a little boring. Any suggestions on games we could play (human bowling? where to get the pins?) or other things we could do to spice it up?

Any and all advice, suggestions, and warnings welcome.

A woman's head on an owl's body. What film did I see? Probably about twenty years ago, I saw a film on BBC2's DEFII programme. It was back and white, probably European and silent era (stylistically at least).

My memory might be vague but I'm sure there was a scene where a man wearing a straw boater was attacked by an owl (or possibly another bird of prey) with a woman's head. The man was walking beside some iron railings. The woman's head was shaven.

Scratching for more memories of the film: a suitcase, a book, someone getting into bed, tinted film.

Any ideas?

What command and conquer style computer game should i play? I enjoyed c+c generals but im looking for a new strategy type game to try. The new c+c 3 is a bit too laggy on my laptop though.

What similar games could you recommend? Ive heard of games like age of empires but i havent tried them.
Older games are okay too, as my pc, (which runs vista and windows 7 okayish) isnt very powerful graphicwise.

How can I watch videos on my computer in black and white? I was wondering if there is any way in which I can watch videos on my computer in black and white. Ideally, I'd like to avoid converting all of the videos to black and white. Is there a program that I can play them in that will just discard all of the color information?

I feel it would give the videos a timeless feel. It would also put focus on the dialogue and exaggerate the expressions.

Diaper suggestions for small infant?

Our newborn pees right through the preemie diapers, through two layers of clothes and into the crib/blanket. This happens every time. Help! I_love_therain and I just brought our baby boy home from the hospital on Monday. He's absolutely fantastic, and so is his bladder. His weight when leaving the hospital was 5 pounds 10 ounces, so we've been using preemie diapers on him. (A combination of Huggies and Pampers. We probably have about 100 of these diapers left right now.) The diapers contain the poop no problem, but whenever he pees it soaks right through the diaper (usually through one of the legs) and gets everything else wet. I don't mind changing 5 diapers in one hour (which is what we did last night, when he just peed and peed and then peed some more) but 5 outfits in an hour is just ridiculous. Isn't it?

This is our first child. Everything else with him is going great, and I'm just wondering, should we be using normal diapers instead of preemies? Am I installing them incorrectly? Is this just something you suffer through until the infant is big enough to wear real diapers? Oh, and if you've read this far, here's the obligatory link to a photo of our kid. :-).
