Lately I seem to be losing a lot of things - the screws for a chair, the screws I bought to replace them, a screwdriver to put them in, a cheese grater, now my wallet. I haven't really had a losing things stage since I was a kid. Confirmation bias, or is there something wrong with me?

Back in 1999, I created this fist logo. Over the years I've seen a number of places repurpose it and when I do I mention that it's not really cool (debatable, I know). I still keep seeing it. Or do I? Is it (April 3rd) the same fist? Further, is there some places that my fist has gotten that people keep grabbing it from?

We have a 3 1/2-year-old son. Our current babysitter, the daughter of one of my wife's coworkers, is leaving for university shortly, and we're trying to find a replacement for her. The same coworker has a son who's about 16 years old. [more inside]

Did I imagine that reference? Cloverfield got me thinking. Someone somewhere perhaps mentioned to me many years ago another "fake visual document" movie, this one involving a tv crew, a lake, a monster (or just a vague mystery?), and it might have been shot in black and white (perhaps to fake olden times?).
