I've had a Kindle Keyboard with lighted case that I've been pretty happy with for a couple of years. However, I'm thinking of upgrading to the Paperwhite for the improved display. Is it worth the price, and is there any trade-off in battery life?

I recently read a blog post / article written by a best-selling Amazon author who noted that after all of Amazon's small print, he was only getting about 20% revenue share on the sale of his work (comparable to the traditional publishing industry) rather than Amazon's frequently lauded 70%. Can anyone find the post / article in question?

I'm looking to purchase
The Practical Nomad as an e-book for my Kindle. It seems like it was previously available, but all the Amazon links are dead and I can't find any other e-book store where it can be purchased. I have a physical copy of the book already, but would like an e-book to travel with.

I've had an e-reader, but never a Kindle and never one with 3G. I understand the reading PDFs and mobi file part, but what else should I know about: what the 3G is good for; apps; hacks; subscribable Kindle-optimized content; the Kindle ecosystem? Besides Instapaper, are there other convert-stuff-to-read-on-your-ereader things I should know about?

I am looking to purchase an e-ink reader... Been looking at the Kindle and Nook and I am having trouble deciding. One of my top priorities is that books I purchase not be lost in 3, 5 or 10 years down the road. Which device is most likely to be be future proof? I also have specific uses that I want it to work for such as being able to load PDFs of academic articles/books and access to the library (see extended explanation for more uses). Thanks for your help!

I'm considering purchasing a Kindle DX, but the current version is two years old and two hardware generations behind the regular Kindle. Is there functionality in the newer versions of the regular Kindle that I would miss when using the Kindle DX? Is it likely to be replaced or discontinued in the near future? Is there anything else that I should know about before buying a Kindle DX?

How do I construct a URL so that it will search Amazon's Kindle store with any text I append to the end of it? I can create one to search all of Amazon (by simply taking the URL I get as the result of an ordinary search and adding words to the end), but I can't find a way of specifying in the URL that it should only search the Kindle store.

I'm helping a Chinese magazine put out an electronic English edition. In addition to the Kindle and Apple iVenues, what are other platforms where we should be distributing this? They're hoping to achieve as wide a paid readership as possible without having to pay impossible listing fees. It's a magazine on the Chinese advertising industry. Are there any advertising industry-specific platforms I should be aware of?

I'm in Canada and planning on buying a kindle, and am currently deciding whether I should buy a Kindle 3G, or stick with the Wi-fi only model. I'd like to use it at the cottage, where there is no Internet Access, but (not-so-great) 3G coverage. It seems like there are some restrictions on international kindles that don't exist in the U.S.

I am sending back my 5th defective Kindle 3 because of screen faults--lines, not fully loading, not displaying properly. Amazon never says anything about why, but apologize for my trouble and agree to ship a replacement. But the damn things only last a month sometimes before the same problem happens. It's a nuisance not to have it work, especially when I'm off the grid on a trip or a vacation, and tedious to have to set up and transfer books and periodicals from old to new.
Is there an alternative? Do others have similar problems? The last CR I talked to suggested I buy a thick leather cover (which the sell for $40) but declined to say the lack of a cover was the cause of the problem.
Has anyone used a cover? Is it necessary? Is so why doesn't Amazon provide a cover. It would be cheaper than sending so many replacements.

I'm sure most of you remember last year's Kindle debacle, when
Amazon deleted copies of 1984 from users' machines. Now I've heard that Amazon can also track the highlight function, and stores the information of
how users read. Is this true? Are there other Kindle-spylike things that Amazon can do/is doing?
