Hello, I am a newer reseller, I am looking to cut out my middle man. I also want to be the first to look at the returns. Right now, I go through a company that I believe goes through stuff before they box it up to resell from Amazon. [more inside]
I purchased a TV show from Amazon Video and paid extra for "HD" but the quality is awful. It looks like a web video circa 2009. Is there anything I can do to improve the quality? [more inside]

I looked at the previous questions about Amazon.com not loading and have tried everything I can think of to try and get it to work. I have flushed my dns cache, deleted my browsing history and cookies, disabled prefetching, and even restarted my router. I even made sure I was using the most up to date chrome. What gives? I am fairly competent with computers, but might need things spelled out for me. Any help would be very much appreciated! Thanks!!
Product reviews on Amazon reviews have been very helpful in choosing and researching options for everything from fish oil supplements for dogs to baby swaddles to windshield wiper blades. It's always been fairly easy to tell obviously fake reviews and mentally discount those from the bigger picture, or see the extreme highs and extreme lows offering a certain kind of perspective that may or may not apply to my own decisions. The Vine program was a bit annoying at first, but since the reviewers were generally chosen for writing helpful reports, their reviews were often quite helpful and contained information missing from the product descriptions. But recently it seems like there are SO many reviews by non-Vine folks who include a variation on the line, "I received this product at a discount in exchange for my writing a honest review." It is obvious why the manufacturers or distributors want to get more reviews, but does Amazon condone this kind of review? Why have they suddenly been popping up even more? [more inside]
I received a sealed, empty, business-size envelope in the mail from a non-Googleable entity called "Buy3rzParadise" claiming to be located in the Galleria in Atlanta. It had a USPS First-Class Package sticker deliberately stuck onto it (with a tracking number, which says it was sent from Oakland) that says the "package" weighs 4oz. This seems like Amazon/ebay fraud, but I haven't ordered anything from Amazon/ebay that hasn't arrived. I've also only lived at this mailing address for a few months. [more inside]
I'm $1.34 away from qualifying for free shipping. What should I add to my cart? [more inside]
Why are the ads on my Kindle so completely off-base? I'm a BIG Amazon user. I buy tons of products of all sorts, many books, and many, many ebooks. So why does Amazon do such a terrible job of targeting ads to me via my Kindle? [more inside]
What are my options for more ethical alternatives to Amazon? [more inside]
What are your recommendations for strategy games for the Kindle Tablet?
I quit Amazon because all my packages ship via USPS, either directly or FedEx SmartPost. Now I'm looking for online retailers who let me choose UPS or FedEx. Are there any? Also want to avoid SmartPost and its UPS equivalent. (Some merchants tell you a shipment will use FedEx/UPS but you find out after commiting the order that USPS handles the last mile. Right now I'm waiting on a SmartPost package turned over to USPS 150 miles from me and it will take 3 days to get it delivered from there.)
I'd like to stock up my Kindle relatively inexpensively (and am also a little overwhelmed by the phenomenal quantity of cheap public domain books available). What are the best works of literary fiction under $2 available for the Kindle? Preferences/requirements inside. [more inside]
What are the weirdest, strangest, wrongest edible items that I can order RIGHT NOW and have in two days via Amazon Prime? Gummi chicken feet is a good place to start.
After spending a while researching Kindle vs. Kobo, I bought a Kindle Paperwhite. I've only had it for half a day and I'm starting to think I made the wrong choice. Help me figure out whether I should return the Paperwhite, whether I should buy the Kobo Glo, or whether I'm barking up the wrong tree entirely. [more inside]

How raunchy is the new Amazon streaming show CATASTROPHE in terms of nudity, sex, language, etc.? I'm reading great things about it, but am wondering if it's something I would feel comfortable watching with my older teen boy. Reference point: we're watching Grace & Frankie now (great show btw!) and that's been ok for us to watch together...
I have a site that I have started a few months ago. It is a site where I am selling random stuff right now and seeing what works. I have had some conversion from Reddit posts that got a few thousand hits so that seems to be helping but it is not always reliable since you never know what is going to go viral. Also, I'd like to open up more channels for selling. The problem is that acquiring visitors can be expensive. Does anyone know of any reasonably priced ways to generate good targeted traffic in 2015? I am not looking for SEO as an answer. I am interested in promoting the products on this site and getting conversions. I am still working on improving the site but I already know that it can convert at a reasonably good rate so my problem now is just acquiring visitors at a reasonable price.
Is there a reason for me to pay $11.99/year for 5GB of cloud storage on Amazon when 5GB of storage is free on iCloud? Is there something I'm missing?
Mostly what it says on the tin. I read a lot, and I read almost everything on my kindle - I'm missing the part of my brain that makes people attached to print books. I'm curious if anyone has tried Kindle Unlimited, and if you liked it or felt it was worthwhile. Let's bracket for now any concerns about Amazon as a company and its effect on publishing/writing. I'm familiar with those arguments, and they'll factor separately into whether or not I decide to sign up. Thanks!
Haven't played piano in over 20 years, although I was good at it at the time. Looking for recommendations of books to help me learn again. [more inside]
I'm a big fan of Kitchen Confidential and other "insider", confessional-type memoirs. After just finishing the rather disappointing Heads In Beds, I need recommendations for some really juicy tell-all memoirs about working in the service industry or pretty much anything interesting. [more inside]
I work at a small manufacturing company. A number of our products are being sold on Amazon at far below retail. If I can identify the customer who purchased them from us, I contact them and they raise the price. The problem is that I can't always match the Amazon seller to one of our customers. I've tried so many different ways and I'm stuck. ? [more inside]
Please help me resolve an argument about what Amazon will and will not sell. Party A claims that Amazon will not sell any book with corpses shown on the cover art. Party B despairs of the work involved in a late change to their book's cover. My gut feeling is that this is a ludicrous exaggeration of their actual policy and that there should be plenty of blatant counterexamples, but it's not an easy thing to search for. That's where askmefi comes in. [more inside]
Amazon and Netflix are now producing boatloads of original content. w00t! Cord cutters rejoice! I love that they are making all this content that cord cutters don't have to get locked out of. I really want to watch and support a lot of these shows. The only thing is, I get the feeling they are producing quantity a bit more than quality. Help me unearth the gems of Netflix and Amazon originals. [more inside]
I love finding albums that digital music stores fail to price correctly. Some examples: Hildur Gudnadottir's Leyfdu ljosinu, James Blackshaw's Lost Prayers, a concert of In C, and the continuous mixes of Hernan Cattaneo's Balance 26). Do you know any great, bargain-basement priced esoteric albums for sale? Do you have a great system for finding them? Please reveal your secrets!

This is obviously a big question to which I don't expect simple or succinct answers. But as I'm probably going to be doing some work soon for some fairly established hi-tech types (the focus of which will be some "disruptive" ecommerce solutions) I feel compelled to ask it. [more inside]
Is there an app that will let you mirror an iPhone screen on a Kindle Fire? I swear I heard of one the other day but I can't for the life of me find it now.
I need some kind of script that can comb through my Amazon emails, extract the titles of books I have downloaded, then visit Amazon to create a database of titles, ISBNs, genres, blurbs, reader ratings and reviews for my collection of Kindle books. With a concordancer I can search through the resulting corpus of reviews to create my own annotated catalog. [more inside]

Some of my favorite writers have spoken out against Amazon, and Amazon does seem to be in the news more frequently over the past year or so, but I don't know enough about the publishing business to understand what the issues are. The whole situation seems rather complicated to me, and I can't tell if the complaints are about Amazon's philosophy or about it's business practices. Will someone please explain? I know MeFi has quite a few members who are in this field, so I thought this would be a good place to ask this question.
Several times I've wanted to post a review of a product, to alert people to simple issues that the company isn't addressing, but if it's not something Amazon would list, and Yelp wants to tie it to a specific city, where's the place to post the review?
I have a fixed layout book in Indesign that I want to publish as an ebook on amazon. I need to export it as a fixed layout epbub and then amazon converts it to their format. It looks fine in indesign and when I export and view on my ipad as an epub, it looks fine, but something in the conversion to kindle format is screwing everything up. [more inside]
Say I bought some fancy electronic gadget on Amazon. I took off all the fancy protective packaging, unwrapped the cables, etc. Then after using it for an hour or two, I decided it was actually a piece of junk they never should have released, and I returned it for the cost of shipping. It's virtually new, but not in factory condition. What happens to that item now?
I recently ordered the Huawei P6 mobile phone on Amazon (UK). I received it this morning, and it is clearly the Chinese version of the phone with a UK adapter included in the packaging. Will this be a big problem? Can I return it and get a refund easily? [more inside]
I vaguely recall there being a domain name involving the word "fish" (or something similar and ridiculous) that would redirect to amazon.com. Was this a dream? I can't find any information about it anywhere. [more inside]
I just tried to purchase something for someone from their Amazon.co.uk wishlist. I pressed the ‘Add to Basket’ button next to the item, which then turned into a ‘Proceed to Checkout’ button. I pressed this, then it asked me to log in, then it prompted me to select a delivery address. Which is stupid, as I clearly want it to be delivered to whatever address the person who set up the wishlist specified. But that’s not an option. What am I doing wrong here?
I am in the UK and have a UK amazon account. My recipient is in the US. How should I send her books? The books are available on the US website - can I save money and shipping by having them sent from the US? if so how can I do that from my UK amazon account? Thanks, I fail at googling this!
With all of the technology and information at our fingertips, I am having finding the best way to watch movies. There are no longer any video stores near me. A few months ago I started selling kinky eBooks for the Kindle, and it's been great. I'm paying my rent doing something I enjoy! But tonight I read this Salon.com article, and it's scary as hell. Amazon is reportedly testing Kindle Unlimited, a service allowing readers to download unlimited books for a flat monthly fee. I've spent hours tonight trying to determine how this will affect self-publishers. Can anybody walk me through the likely scenarios, and talk me down from this panic attack? [more inside]
Help me find some really great gourmet foods that are available through Amazon Prime.

So a book I wrote is about to be published, and for my own sanity I think I need to stop looking at the ranking/reviews on my Amazon page. Until I grow some more self-control, I need help. Is there a plugin (or other method) I can use to block all Amazon pages relating to my book? [more inside]
I just received an Amazon delivery (a Kindle, actually). The package was delivered by two guys in street clothes in a beat-up sedan -- no uniformed driver in a marked delivery truck. Is this the new normal for Amazon? [more inside]
After this FPP on Amazon's questionable tactics dealing with Hachette (and in particular, Michael Sullivan's article on the matter, in which he mentions developing "a direct sales channel" with readers), and mathowie's comment in the MeFi funding thread on True Fans, help me find a better way to support authors than binging on the Kindle Book Store (where the majority of my payment apparently goes to publishers and distributors - boo!). Difficulty level: hard SF (think Greg Egan), space opera (think Banks' Culture series); ebooks preferred. [more inside]
I often find, when I go to buy ebooks for my kindle, that Amazon does not carry the ebook title I am looking for. What are good sites to buy the ebooks that Amazon *doesn't* carry?
