I really like Aveda Rosemary Mint shampoo
. It smells nice and refreshing, and does good things for my hair. It used to be an somewhat expensive indulgence, but the price has doubled over the last few years for no apparent reason and now I can't come close to justifying it.
Does anyone have a good recommendation as a substitute? I have tried most everything Costco carries, as well as this lavender shampoo
(which seemed pretty harsh to me).

My friend theorizes that a miniaturized dam, which he calls "The Waterboy", would be a great form of alternative energy and wanted to get feedback on whether this idea would actually work.
document he drafted up describes The Waterboy further and includes calculations.

Hello, fellow salt-deprived victims of this over-generous winter! I am fanatical about clearing my front walk, but my salt supplies are almost depleted and both salt and the usual alternatives are out of stock in my Toronto neighbourhood. In addition to dedicated shovelling and attacking residual ice with the appropriate metal tools, what can I do to fight problems like a thin slick of black ice that results from the occasional melt-friendly temperatures we get? I'm trying to identify a song and google is failing me. Here's the best info I've got:
The (tiny bit of) lyrics I can remember go something like "there's so many miles to go... [na na na na] // Don't even know [who I'll be?] when [I?] get there..."
It's a duo of a male and female, and the male sings one octave lower than the woman. Her voice is somewhat ethereal.
The song is in a minor key, and is somewhat melancholy.
I keep thinking it's an Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan piece, but from everything I've listened to on youtube, it's not.

Kickstarter's arbitrary categories (staff picks, recently funded, etc) seem not to let me look at what I want to look at. I just want to be able to do what the link at the front says: 'See all 318 Games projects'. Except I just want tabletop games, and I want to be able to sort them how I want: oldest, newest, most pledges, about to end, whatever. Is there something online that does this? An app, perhaps? Or am I missing something completely about the existing interface? (To be clear, I am not looking for an alternative to Kickstarter. I just want to look at Kickstarter differently.)

I may be on the lookout for a new residence soon, and I'm open to alternatives to the usual apartment/house rental. In particular, living in an RV or camper trailer parked on the street outside of a friend's house (or in their driveway if long-term parking on the street is illegal) seems doable. And fun. And possible (I asked). What's it like? [more inside]

It's an old cry now - to get out of Google's claws. Mail, calendar and everything.
However, I always find one thing missing. Chat

So, let's discuss how to release our chatting app/service free from the claws of Google/Facebook/Skype &c and still be able to: [more inside]

I've been very disappointed with my doctor--she's obviously rushed and makes simple mistakes (like writing me a prescription for an over-the-counter medicine, telling me I need bloodwork but then not testing for the things she said she was going to, etc). I've also felt on several occasions that she didn't really listen to what I was saying to her.
I'm thinking of joining this concierge medical center
but I wanted to hear other people's experiences with this form of health care first. [more inside]

My daughter was diagnosed with scoliosis 2 years ago, wore the boston brace for a year, but her curve had progressed to 50 degrees, which is the number to be operable. I would like to hear from people who had (or had their child) go thru surgery, or tried other alternative methods, like the Clear method. How is it living years after surgery, its success, or the success of Clear method or any other treatment? The idea of spine surgery for my child is overwhelming and scary and I would like any input from people and parents who experienced or are experiencing thru it. Thank you.

I'm trying to rank some non-proper poker hands within the conventional poker hand-ranking framework. I would like to rank them conventionally, i.e. on their probability of occurring in a straight, five-card deal.
The non-proper hands are:
(1) "Four-card straight" (four cards in a row);
(2) "Four-card flush" (four cards of the same suit);
(3) "Four-card straight flush" (four cards in a row of the same suit);
(4) "Same-color flush" (all 5 red cards or all 5 black cards);
(5) "Straight same-color flush" (a straight composed of all black cards or all red cards);
(6) "Four-card straight same-color flush" (a four-card straight composed of all black cards or all red cards).
My probability skills are "OK" (the odds for the four-card flush and same-color flush are straightforward), but some of them (particularly the straights) seem too tricky for me. [more inside]
