new tattoo and hair dye allergy test

I got a new tattoo but also dye my hair. I have some questions about the increased chance of an allergic reaction when using hair dye while having tattoos. Basically, is doing an allergy spot test on the arm with one brand of hair dye sufficient for safety across other brands, or do I have to test the specific dye? (how similar are hair dyes?) Is this anaphylaxis?

Several times in the past 2 years, my husband has had episodes of skin redness. He also seemed oddly drunk. He's already promised me he'll make an appointment with our doctor about it, but I'm curious what questions he should be asking and what precautions we should take. [more inside]

"Mr Burns, you have every disease there is!" "So I can't get worse, I'm invincible!"

Can you help narrow down what sort(s) of doctor(s) to see and what to investigate, given these symptoms? All symptoms have cropped up within the last two years. Before that, I felt healthy most of the time. Primary care doc has been little help, and most of the specialists seem to focus only on the symptoms within their own areas of expertise. [more inside]

How worried should I be about my symptoms?

Should I be worried about this? I went to the doctor this morning to get checked out for cold/flu symptoms; I didn't think it was serious -- I just wanted to check that I didn't have H1N1, but the doctor told me that the treatment I'd been getting for prostatitis was "highly unusual for someone in their 20s", and he said I should immediately stop taking the antibiotic I'm on (Septra/Bactrim) because I might be having an allergic reaction to it, or possibly an autoimmune reaction. Sulfa danger?

I'm allergic to sulfa drugs (specifically known to be allergic to Septra). My boyfriend's taking Bactrim, a sulfa drug. Could I have an allergic reaction from kissing him or coming into contact with his sweat? Could sleeping next to him be dangerous?

Cats or No Cats?

The ethics of getting a cat. A roommate and I have been planning to get a cat when our allergic roommates move out. We got the OK from the new roommates on getting the cats. The day after the three new roommates signed the lease, one of them calls and asks us to not get the cat because his girlfriend is allergic. What should we do?
