I've been trying to find some info on soaking marijuana in alcohol, specifically to determine what the effects would be in drinking such a mixture. Everything I've found so far, suggests that a marijuana/alcohol mixture makes a good tincture for presumedly medicinal purposes. There is also a vodka beverage infused with marijuana seeds that is supposed to be quite terrible. Alcohol is said to be good for extracting THC and I've seen some sources suggest using it to make hash.
Just for fun, I've put about an ounce of chopped bud into a bottle and filled it with rum. But before I drink it, I'd kinda like to know something about dosage and strength. So anyone out there ever try this before?

I like to drink, but I don't like alcohol. Or at least the taste of it. I never have, but lately, I haven't been able to drink much at all. I can detect even small amounts and have been known to grimace when drinking even a wimpy drink. But I love to party, and as a big guy, it takes a lot to get me drunk. Any ideas on dealing with this problem?

I have decided to stop drinking for a while. Without going into too much detail- I drink alot. Stopping involves several nights of a special kind of hell while trying to sleep. Tossing, turning, very, very light sleeping, sweating, nightmares, etc. - it just sucks. I have taken Unisom and Valerian and other things (alone and together) to no avail. Is there a good way to minimize this ill effect (short of visiting the doctor)?

Over the years, my wife and I have managed to accumulate many bottles of different kinds of alcohol. For the most part, though, we don't drink it, and it's just taking up space. So we're looking for culinary ways to use it. What good recipes do folks have that use stuff like rum, vodka, schnaps, etc.? Wine and beer recipes are welcome, too, although we're mostly trying to get rid of harder stuff. Anything from sauces to marinades to whatever would be great.

I was recently prescribed Tylenol 3 for post-surgery pain (ankle fracture)--I've really only needed it at night. The last time I took it was last night (Friday) at about 11:30 pm. I'm going to a wedding tonight. Do I need to worry about the interaction with alcohol even though my "last dose" will have been about 18 hours prior? In other words, can I drink at the wedding?!

I've learned that a new friend/co-worker is several years sober. She's a confident, no-nonsense kind of chick, and she is not uncomfortable with drinkers or in the presence of alcohol. That said, I'm still looking for do's and don'ts (that go beyond common sense of um, not offering her a beer, and not calling attention to her non-alcoholic thirst-quencher of choice or protectively fawning over her.)

What does the law say about selling food containing alcohol? Would a store need a liquor license to sell a dessert made with, say, rum? Is there a difference between food containing liquor versus beer or wine? Do these rules vary by state?

A few months back I had dangerously too much to drink. Sometime after that, I realized that the little finger of one hand has less sensation than it should. It's not completely numb and moves normally, but the partial numbness is disconcerting. Could alcohol consumption have caused this? Is this a symptom I should see a doctor about?

In T Coraghessan Boyle's excellent novel Drop City, there's a scene in which a character dies after drinking alcohol outside in the midst of a deeply freezing night in Alaska. Boyle doesn't really explain it, but I'm wondering if this is a commonly known actual way of dying; if so, is there some temperature at which drinking booze in sub-arctic conditions becomes hazardous to one's health?

think I've been suffering from a very mild stomach flu. Nothing virulent, just enough to make me at times mildly uncomfortable. A friend of mine wants me to meet him for a drink tonight. I've heard that whisky can kill microbes in the stomach. Is this true? If so, would a couple of fingers of whisky be a good idea tonight?

I know, for a fact, that someone is drink driving EVERY DAY. Not just a few pints, but at LEAST 8pints and then driving home. Mostly it's a short, five minute drive, but sometimes it's longer distance. I have tried to talk to him and get him to stop - to walk to the pub. His brother has tried to talk to him. He just won't. He is also diabetic, so the drink has adverse effects on his sugar levels, which makes him more dangerous. He can't even walk properly when he gets home, so goodness knows how he can drive. The problem is, this person is a relative - and he's given me somewhere to live when I had nowhere.
I just don't know what to do. Would you inform someone? Or would you keep quiet? I don't particularly WANT to 'rat' on him, but what happens if he hits someone, and I know I could have stopped it? What would you do?

There's a wonderful liqueur that I'd like to buy as a gift, but it's only available from a distillery in Germany. I contacted the distillery, and with my somewhat limited German, was able to ask about shipment to the US. They can ship it, but don't accept payment via credit card, but rather "mit Rechnung." This I believe to be "by check," but I'm not sure. Has anyone had experience with this kind of transaction? Some German sites I saw which also require that kind of payment have forms that ask for a password. Is this an EU thing only?
