About 6 months ago my partner told me he had stopped taking his Prozac. He was on a low 'maintenance dose' and had been feeling better. Now things have gone belly up and going back on the meds hasn't helped. He's drinking heavily and can barely function. How can I find him the help he needs and also help him myself with little money and no support network whilst looking after our young daughter?

So. Either my boyfriend's drinking or my anxiety about his drinking is going to ruin our (extremely awesome, otherwise very solid) relationship. I can't tell if I'm being crazy or not.

My boyfriend of 8 years just had what looks very much like a manic episode. It involved him doing incredibly stupid, dangerous stuff with alcohol that got him arrested. He's out of jail now, he's in touch with a lawyer... So, the legal stuff is as settled as it can be right now. But now we're dealing with much larger psychological issues, and I am desperate for advice.

I'm looking for both general and specific recommendations - books to read, films to watch, games to play, things to cook and activities outside the house I could get involved in.

My partner and I have decided that we would like to learn to drink in moderation, and have already begun to see if it will work for us. But we're not trying to
reduce our intake-- we've each abstained from alcohol for over five years and are starting from a place of not drinking at all. Basically, we're un-quitting drinking, and want some guidance. Is there some sort of support or literature that can help us make sure we're on the right track as we learn to have a healthy and casual relationship with alcohol?

My cousin is a lifelong alcoholic. Other than staying with friends, he is homeless. He has limited contact with the family and every attempt at sobriety has failed. He has a long history of arrests and jail time, all of which involve alcohol and alcohol-related offenses (shoplifting, public drinking and intoxication, et cetera). I need to find a
wet house in either the Los Angeles or Phoenix area.
No recommendations for AA or sobriety programs, please. It has been tried and he does not want that help.

I'm looking for recommendations for a gay/gay-friendly therapist in the Northern Virginia area who has experience with alcohol abuse and alcoholism. I'm attending AA meetings to help with the continuing sobriety, but I really think I would benefit from some additional therapy. Thank you. Because: 1) of depression and 2) I got into relationship trouble (with my spouse) because of occasional binge drinking--- I've have had no alcohol for about 7 weeks. I've been on a mild dose of an antidepressant almost the whole time and feel a low-level, but constant, state of mild depression- kind of "zombie-like." I was hoping getting alcohol off the table would reveal "emotional issues" as to why I've enjoyed binging , but that really hasn't happened, even with therapy (about 7-8 sessions - we've just kicked around painful events that probably most people have encountered one way or another.) Soooooo, the question is: How does one define or identify "emotional issues" related to substance abuse and/or depression? (beyond therapy, eliminating substances)

How do chemicals (alcohol and anti-depressant medication) impact meditation?
I am wondering if taking anti-depressants would impacts one's ability to meditate? I know dreams are impacted by taking anti-depressants, so does that mean that vivid dreaming (under the influence of seritonin re-uptake inhibitors) has no spiritual meaning whatsoever? (obviously those who believe in lucid dreaming should address this question). Please shed some light (even if just anecdotally) on the impact of taking these medications on one's ability to still the mind.
