As a 10 year old child I went with my mother, myself and my 7 year old brother went to EJ Korvette's on 46th Street to meet an alien. Well, actually it was Leonard Nimoy (in full makeup and costume) as Mr. Spock. It was 1969 and he had just come out with his new album Mr Spock's Music From Outer Space.
We were in a crush of people. My brother was having trouble with the crowd. The store was packed. Finally my mother snapped and dragged us out of the store screaming, "My son is suffocating, get out of the way!"
Anyway, after hysteria by yours truly, we went back. The crowd was gone. Someone took the album from my hands and sliced the covering plastic with a razor. I didn't care. I was looking up at Mister SPOCK from my favoite show of all times!
I wanted to say something, anything. But my throat was dry. My brain useless. He signed the album. He signed it... Spock in cursive.
I still have this album today.
Is it worth anything? Other than my memories and the original price? Leonard. I love your photos. Call me...

How much money should I try to raise to get 8 kids in a studio, with a producer, to cut some songs? I'm working with 8 inner city students in the city of Chicago. They all have a passion for music, but limited experience with music. They all write, rap, and a few of them can sing like crazy. I just received a kickstarter invitation, and have no idea where I should set my sites. [more inside]

My dad has many boxes of the photographs he took during college 30 years ago. After completing my freshman year, I have equally as many digital pictures saved on my computer. While I would love to make 1500 prints, that isn't very plausible. What's the best way to preserve these pictures and make them easily accessible and viewable in the future? (I might be able to choose 200 or so to make the most accessible and viewable.)

How to burn Mp3 random mixes
(not entire albums) into several folders on Macintosh for easy navigation in my car cd player...I used to be able to make mp3 discs of whatever songs i wanted and then place them into folders on my desktop, then burn them to disc. It seems that Itunes only allows some form of folder separation (if any at all) by sorting things only by each group's album. This is not helpful if you want several folders with random songs in each folder...for example...I want one folder with songs by rock groups..another that is jazz...whatever. On the new imac, it does not seem to let me take the drag and dropped mp3s in folders on my desktop to a burn disc icon as it did in my older G4. Any suggestions on software or a simpler way around this? I appreciate your input. When it did work, it worked great and saved me from using a crummy fm transmitter on my ipod. The mp3 cds for me sound much better and are easily disposable if left in car.

I received a mix-tape a while ago with a really great band on it that I can't find. I'm pretty sure they're called "Album," and I think the song was called "hormigas." The song was quite bleak and beautiful and I think it was sung in Spanish. It sounded a little post-rockish. [more inside]

I had all my wedding pictures on my ibook (4.7 GB's worth). My wife and I started to sort them by making albums in iphoto. Then, I had to transfer all the photos to my imac. On the ibook, I can still see the albums and thumbnails, but the ACTUAL pictures are no longer there. Is there a way to export the albums to the imac, a la an itunes playlist? I have ilife 05' on the ibook and ilife 06' on the imac.

I own a copy of Tres Hombres
by ZZ Top. I'd like to get it into mp3 format so that I can listen to it in the car, etc. The problem is that the copy I own is on a record.
Assuming I download with bittorrent, and then the RIAA comes after me, can I use the defense that I actually already owned it, so downloading could not be considered criminal? Would it be different if I owned a record rather than a CD?
In other words, can you legally download the mp3 of an album you already own?
