Get me stranded in London, please.

As a way to visit a friend during my travels in Europe this summer, I'm looking to obtain a days-long layover - ideally at least 2-3 days, but the longer the better. I have no idea how to go about getting such a thing, but I'm relatively sure the possibility exists. What are my best options for getting a layover like this, while still keeping my overall flight cost low? [more inside]

Help me get my cat home.

I'm moving home to Toronto after 2 years in Egypt, and I need to take my cat. How does moving half-way around the world work with a cat, exactly? [more inside]

Are there power outlets on International United Airlines flights? My mother is wanting to be able to charge her laptop on a plane ride to Bejing, and wants to know if she is able to either plug her laptop in on the flight, or bring a cigarette lighter power inverter in order to charge it. Does anyone have any input on this that I can tell her?

The cheapest distance between two points

Let's say that traveler X would like to fly from city A to city B on American Airlines. The cost to fly from A to B is $500. X notices that a flight from A to C costs $300, and includes a layover in B. What, if any, are the negative consequences to X if he purchases the A to C itinerary, carries his bags on the flight, and leaves the airport after arriving at B, never to complete the B - C leg? Will United care if I skip the first leg of a two-leg itinerary?

I'm flying from the east coast to southern California via San Francisco in a few weeks. I've decided that for the return trip, I'd like to drive up to San Francisco a few days early, skip the first leg of my return flight (SoCal to SFO), and just catch the second leg. (I would just rebook my ticket but the change fee is ludicrous -- well in excess of the entire ticket cost.) Is this a dumb idea? [more inside]

How/where can I sell an airline/airplane/flight ticket?

I bought a plane ticket, I subsequently had to cancel the flight, and now I'm stuck with a Delta voucher. I want to sell it and buy a ticket on another airline, which happens to have a much better flight to my destination. But where can I sell my ticket? I tried eBay and Points.com already.

I would like to intentionally miss the connection to Rochester and spend the evening in the Twin Cities with friends and take a bus down to Rochester on Saturday. I would, however, like to board my plane on Monday from Rochester as scheduled. Will NWA put up a fuss that I never made my connecting flight and prevent me from boarding Monday?

Airline "Weather Weasling" out of rule 240?

My United Air flight from Washington, DC to New York (departing 4:55pm yesterday) was canceled. I asked to be booked on the next flight, based on rule 240. The airline refused, claiming it was canceled due to weather. But at the time of cancelation, there were clear skies at both airports, and plenty of other planes on the same route at similar times were not canceled. How do I call bullshit, and make them pay for my inconvenience (an extra day in DC, taxi w/2 small kids, etc), and for being such big liars?

Cheap flights -- do they exist in general?

Is it possible to get an ultra-cheap roundtrip out of the DFW area to anywhere, just for the sake of flying? If not, I'll just wait for a real vacation to come up one day.

The internet says my flight is delayed. What do I do?

According to aa.com, my flight departure this morning is delayed by an hour. I haven't left the house yet. How big a risk is it, though, to show up to the airport an hour later than I had planned? Do they ever "move up" a delay, thinking that it is convenient to the people already waiting? If so, what is the point of showing me that it is delayed?
