Tips on scoring an exit row seat?

I'm flying to Hawaii for work at the end of May (yay) and work booked my ticket for me. My four USAirways flights (Milwaukee to Phoenix and Phoenix to Hawaii and then reverse) have ZERO exit row seats available online. I even had to pay $89 for their "ChoiceSeat" on one flight because it was the *only* aisle seat available (which have no more legroom than a regular seat, just allows you to board before the rest of the passengers). At 6'6", this is troubling. I called USAirways today and was first told they had exit row seats for purchase (at roughly $90/flight) but that she was having trouble getting them to work on her system so she had to transfer me to their "online helpdesk". That person told me that there were no exit row seats available at all, full stop. I can't rebook to another flight because my arrival is being timed with other coworkers. So, are there any tips/tricks/secret handshakes I can use at the airport to try to get a seat with a little more room? I'm extremely grateful that I get to go to Hawaii on someone else's dime but am anticipating agony the whole way there and back.

I'll be in Seoul for about 11 hours, what to do?

Hey! I have a long layover in Seoul (landing at Incheon, 5:20AM, departing, 4:30PM, about 11 hours) this Thursday, June 27th. Is it reasonable to head into the city (or somewhere) for food or drink or other amusement in this short span? Can you suggest a micro-itinerary that seems fun to you? I'm also interested in other options, including walking around the city with MeFites.

Carry-on baggage, worth the hassle?

I have always checked baggage when flying due to a large suitcase. And there is something so liberating about just dumping the bag during check-in, and then jaunting through the terminal sans baggage. Tomorrow, I am going for a short trip and could pack everything into a regulation-size wheeled suitcase and thus do carry on. Both planes (+ 1 connection), are full to capacity. Is it worth the hassle of trying to find overhead? Schlepping it through two airports? Compared to the potential of losing my bag for the duration of my trip, which recently happened? What do you do? Strategies?

Looking for better airline seat back pocket organizer or portfolio

When flying, I use a plastic accordion-style file portfolio to keep a number of things (listed inside) easily accessible in the seat back pocket (or other pocket in a bulkhead row). This makes taking these things out of my carry-on much easier and makes it less likely that I will forget something in the seat back pocket when I leave. It works well for document-shaped things, although the smaller more irregularly shaped things end up getting mixed up together. Is there a better solution? Or even a particular accordion-style organizer you would recommend? I am looking to get a new one. [more inside]

Rescheduling air travel to save $

I was pleasantly surprised today to find out that some flights I had booked a month ago for my family to travel later this year had come down dramatically in price, so even with the change fee of $150 a head, the savings was quite large and I got a better flight to boot. How often does this happen, and should a person routinely screen for lowered fares even after purchasing a ticket?
