Meta Deal Finder

Does anyone know of a good deal finding website or service? I'm looking something where I can just say I'm looking for a type/category of item and it will scour deals and just give me an updated list I can check on or send me an alert when there's a hot deal. [more inside]

App or website that aggregates links from your social media network?

I used to subscribe to a website which sent me a regular digest of stories which more than one person from my social media network had linked to. I would like to set this up again but I can't remember what the website/app was. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Something like Zite, now that Flipboard has killed it?

I really liked the app Zite, a news aggregator. It was acquired and shut down by Flipboard. Unfortunately, Flipboard just doesn't offer the same range and depth that Zite did. I'm looking for a new Zite. [more inside]

Best aggregating art exhibition calls website?

I loved artpoints.net/calendar, but apparently they've shut down as of June 14th. Is there another impartial aggregator of art exhibition calls? I can search callforentry.org or other commercial sites but they only list opportunities run through their own service. I liked that artpoints.net/calendar was a one-stop shop that listed regionally, by date, with call restrictions and details.

Post your favorite year-end best-of list aggregator!

In the past Fimoculous has aggregated year-end "best of" lists for many different aspects of culture, such as music, movies, architecture, games, websites, you name it. According to his Twitter feed, though, he's done with this practice. So how to fill the void? What's your year-end-list aggregator of choice?

How exactly do web feeds work?

How do web feeds and news aggregators work? When a new blog post goes up does the aggregator automatically pick that up when it checks for updates to the feed or does each site's feed decide how often they update their feeds independent of how often the blog is updated? What is a good aggregator that lets me set how often to check feeds or even lets me check feeds manually?

Plenty of beaches, but where are the best waves?

InternetFilter: Besides MetaFilter, whats the must read of the day? Tired of perusing the usual suspects for cool things on the internet. As I grow older find myself a bit less enthused over reddit, fark, digg, etc. As we all know, Metafilter is the holy grail of knowledge and all things fantastic, but I find myself wondering if there are a couple of pit stops missing before arriving here that will make my internet time better. Thinking along the lines of science, art, sociology, psychology, music and more. Any and all suggestions much appreciated.
