I'm a front-end web developer (HTML, CSS, jQuery) just starting out. I have a good portfolio from doing work for friends and a few businesses. I'm self-taught and therefore lacking some of the confidence that comes with the feedback you get in a structured learning environment or working tightly with other developers. I want to get in with a web development company/agency that has a great work environment.
What would you say are the best web dev companies in Toronto in terms of great work/life balance, great (bright, comfortable) office space, and mentorship/on-going learning opportunities? (Opportunities to work abroad with the company would also be welcome!).
Thanks for the info!

I'm an English teaching assistant who will soon leave for France with no housing pre-arranged for me and no help from the schools employing me or from any other government organizations, despite numerous polite requests for assistance. How can I find low-cost and secure housing in Strasbourg as soon as possible? Are there reputable agencies to help individuals in my situation? [more inside]

I am looking for recent, first-hand recommendations for good temporary agencies in NYC (beyond the three mentioned in this thread
). I have a background in nonprofits, but I cannot limit myself to niche agencies. I would also (secondarily) welcome current insight into the temp world. Thank you!
At least I know Excel this time around

I'm an ASW in Southern California and I'm relocating to San Francisco. What are some good resources/agencies for finding social work jobs in SF? I've used Indeed, Craigslist, and the UCSF website, but I don't know of enough agencies/hospitals up there to know which websites to check for job openings.
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

An agent from a very large, well-established literary agency contacted me to say he liked my self-pubbed sci-fi, that he'd seen all the glowing reader reviews, and to ask about my future plans and if I had taken on representation. I answered those questions directly (plans for new books and no, I don't have representation). Presuming he writes back... what do I need to know? [more inside]

What happens when a baby is born in jail in New Jersey? What departments/agencies are automatically involved? We are looking to get legal guardianship of a sister's soon-to-be-born child while she is in jail and need to know what agencies we should be dealing with beforehand.

I'm building a component to a website that lists Federal, State, and Local government agencies for people to contact. I know that there are sites out there that have this sort of feature already for their own campaigns.
Where can I find one or multiple lists to combine that contain Governmental Agency names, descriptions, and contact information?

Are there any agencies to help people exchange properties / relocate in the US (i.e. from one state to another

I'm a post-Ph.D. (not computer science, alas, but history) and have decided to seek my fortune outside academia. I have lots of experience organizing and researching and analyzing and presenting and teaching all sorts of things in all sorts of contexts, and have made my CV into a resume that shows I'm not just another egghead. Unfortunately, I'm coming up empty handed after several months of a full-court press, and I'm thinking it's time to contact headhunting/recruiting agencies that might be interested in someone like me. I'd love your thoughts and suggestions on which firms to contact in the New York area. [more inside]

A friend, who is looking for a job in Dubai, appears to have been duped by a rogue company called jobsindubai.com which is based out of Canada. I have been scouring the net but the closest I got was an interview at http://grapeshisha.blogspot.com/2006/03/jobsindubai-and-jobs-in-dubai.html
Is there any way I can prove that the company is acting irresponsibly or indeed that it is duping everyone?

I've been trying to get a job in a city 90 miles from my current residence, but not having much luck. Part of the problem is that I'm new to the management class and not really familiar with how job hunting is done; part of the problem is that my degree is irrelevant to my current and prospective work.
